I was a bit skeptical going because history isn't my thing, but I actually enjoyed myself. It is a pretty and relaxing setting. And it was interesting to see operational mills and old machines used to process wood, wool, grains etc. I'm sure glad I don't live in the 19th century... it was a lot of work. There are live... This is a beautiful place to visit. It is huge. We have been to other living history villages and was very surprised about this place. You can look in every building. The people working in the buildings are very informative. I enjoyed the carding mill as I never saw one before. We happened to visit some of the houses and... More

My sister in law took me to Old Sturbridge Village for a dining experience like no other to celebrate my birthday. We walked out to the village and into one of the buildings. We were greeted by costumed staff serving mulled cider but a bar was available too. Cheese & crackers were served before we were escorted to the dining... More

We went here over for spring break. It's a good day trip. It reminds me a small , uncroweded version of Colonial Williamsburg. Friendly staff. The lines weren't long and able to participate in activities. Kids had a great time!

My 10 year old suddenly connected to Old Sturbridge Village when he saw the costumed staff doing their chores. He loved interacting with them. Learning from them is the joy of the place. We went mid-week in August. It was not at all crowded. We took the boat ride to the mill and it was a good diversion if not... More

Thank you for leaving your review. We appreciate your feedback. We are in the process of making various improvements to the Village experience (including food) based on visitor and focus group feedback, but as you can imagine, these things don’t happen overnight. They take careful thought, time, planning, many different people, and money. We hope to implement a variety of... More

Wow. You don't realize just how good we have it made until you visit Old Sturbridge Village and actually experience how they lived years ago. It seemed to be such a hard life--but the land is so beautiful I certainly would love to live there! From the animals, people who tell the stories of the lives of those who lived... More

I'd never visited Old Sturbridge Village and my wife last visited on a 3rd Grade field trip, so we decided to check it out with our girls during Spring School Vacation Week since it had an extended schedule that week. OSV is a collection of historic buildings depicting life in New England around 1830. Horse carriages, barns, farm animals, water... More

We live in the Boston area and have kids 5 and 8 years old. Old Sturbridge Village is a quick, no planning vacation, meaning we come often enough we got a membership. There are many reasonably priced family friendly hotels in the area, a wide range of delicious restaurants nearby, as well as the Wells State park for some hiking.... More
