This is an amazing site, a mini Siem Reap style temple in Thailand without the huge cost or crowds. Wonderfully preserved, easy to get too and see. It's not a hard walk once you get there, but like all ancient sites the ground is very...More

Bring comfortable shoes, sun screen and a camera. Just an amazing setting and plenty of good Thai food available near the parking lot. Double pricing, but T.I.T. for the actual Park admission.

We were fascinated on how this manmade marvels was built. It's amazing place very serene. It is best to go there early around 8:30-9am because there's not much crowd yet. And thus u can really feel how peaceful the place is.

Saturday afternoon, so Phanom Rung was busy, which I personally didn’t like. I’ve visited a few times in the past 3 decades and always enjoy the visit. It’s a must-see Thailand sight but it’s not one of my favourite Khmer sites probably due to the...More

We have been traveling to ancient capitals in Thailand and Myanmar for five weeks. This was well worth the road trip and overnight stays is some out if the way cities and limited hotel choices. Frankly, I recommend this site over Sukhothai. I prefer the...More

perched on a steep hill, this is the most beautiful Khmer temple in Thailand in my opinion. I recommend to access from the lower parking deck. Climbing the long flight of stairs is a little bit tiresome, but allows you to better enjoy the grandeur...More

An ancient temple of the Khmer Empire built more than 1,000 years ago. The site is high up on the hill with a good view over the paddy fields down below, I suspect it is probably 300 meters above sea level.

The site was built during the Khmer occupation of eastern Thailand. Situated on the only high ground in the area it commands a spectacular and strategic view for miles around. This site would have been the military and administrative centre of the region. A short...More

We do not have private transportation so what is the best way to get to Phanom Rung from Surin? Are there any tour companies in Surin offering day trips or do we have to hire a driver? If we need to hire a driver, how much should we expect to pay?

You can hire a mini van with driver for a day for around B1000 or $300. Once you get to the site you have to buy tickets for a pick up truck ride to the top.
