The Arab American National Museum (AANM) is the first and only museum in the United States devoted to Arab American history and culture. Through its interactive hands-on exhibits, the AANM documents and presents the Arab American story. By bringing the voices and faces of Arab Americans to its audiences, the AANM affirms its commitment to dispel the many misconceptions about Arab Americans and other minorities.

Hiding in a line of commercial buildings in the middle of Michigan Avenue this jewel of architecture. The beautiful mosaic facade stands looking conspiratorially at the City Hall Artspace across the street. Inside the museum you can see artifacts and information about the Arab world...More

I had the opportunity to visit this museum during a weekday. The museum itself is very informative and I learned a lot from this trip. Right off Michigan Ave you are close to restaurants and other attractions. If you love culture, I recommend visiting this...More

And by beautiful, I mean the history, the culture, the museum, and the exhibits. I popped in unexpectedly (curiosity finally beat out grocery shopping!), and I was surprised that Dearborn doesn't do a better job of enticing visitors to the Museum. There is so much...More

This is an older review, from several years ago. I'm a Dearborn resident, and think this museum is an excellent way to learn about the Mideast influence in the Detroit area. So many simply criticize people of different ethnicity, just because they are different, without...More

The Arab-American museum is of interest to anyone who is fascinated by the history of U.S. immigration. The museum provides a great overview of Arab history and contributions to world culture, and then focuses on the impact of Arab-Americans in the U.S.

The people are nice and friendly and they offer an educational discount. It is a 2-story building. The history spans several centuries and it is interesting. The second-floor exhibits were about specific people’s lives - interesting also.

The emphasis here is more on the process and experiences of Arab Americans coming to this country and their contributions once they settled than what they left behind in their homelands. It had a number of informative and educational exhibits which help you understand the...More

I think the one major thing you take away from the Arab American museum is how so many Arab Americans have left an impact on US society without most Americans even knowing about it. There's a section on the ground floor about Arab contributions in...More

It's a cultural museum, not a historical museum, so don't expect a lot of detail on the countries of origin or the political, religious or economic reasons for emigration to the U.S. The focus is assimilation, the contributions of Arabs in America, and how individuals...More

Dearborn has so many playgrounds and parks. There are a few nearby playgrounds and green areas/parks that would be a short walk. If you can take a short drive, you can visit Hines Park. Hines Park has many playgrounds... More
