I’ll be honest, I feel that I need to visit this museum again. As much as I did see, I did not allot enough time to the “And Still We Rise” exhibit. The museum seems to make history come alive in a way that was...More

Actually, I give this historical museum 4.5 stars. I am withholding one-half star, because of a few exhibit presentation failures, that could be easy fixes. The overall, building/floor plan layout, experience, flow, scholarly commentary and exhibits are first-rate, informative and surprising, in many instances. The...More

Very well done and moving depiction of African American history. A must see when you are visiting Detroit. The museum is set up as a timeline through history with interactive and life like rooms and visuals.

Spent a couple of hours. Well worth going. Educational. The art took up a lot of space though. Hard to find parking

The reviews that I read are on-point. The museum is great. Starting outside, there is a moving tribute to those slain in the Detroit riots. The principle exhibit is thought provoking. The horrors that slaves endured captured, brilliantly. This is a must see. There is...More

Very intriguing from beginning until the end. So much knowledge and history that made one very proud. The children were in awe with the history they learned and seeked more with each exhibit. The ship was a tear jerking exhibit, but it’s a must see....More

It's still very popular. Reservations are essential. Go to their website. There are various ways for admission including early afternoon first come, first served. But that is iffy. Truly an amazing experience.
