We took the scenic drive through the national lakeshore and stopped at several sights. The dunes are amazing. You climb through the woods onto the sand and up a hill, and reach the top of the dune where the water is different vivid shades of blue in different regions of the lake. It is breathtaking. Be sure to stop and... More

What can you say about this place that hasn't already been said? There's a reason it was voted the "Most Beautiful Place in America" by viewers of "Good Morning America" back in 2011. And five years later, it still deserves that title. Start your trip at the Philip A. Hart Visitor Center in Empire, where you can purchase your park... More

It is so amazing here.. I love going here. The one thing I will say is I never bother with shoes the sand is deep when walking the dunes and gets in your socks. We've been several times and the dunes have never been the same. Always changing. So, it really makes for a place you can go time and... More

This park is very pretty with huge dunes, bright blue water, and great views. On top of this there are old boats you can see, and a scenic car ride area through the woods with dune lookouts.

This place is very beautiful. The dunes are amazing and the water is teal blue. The Dune climb is very cool. The loop is okay, it brings you to some good spots but its hard to find parking. My only complaint was that tourists are so disrespectful of our protected places. In many places where it asked people to stay... More

We spent 2 nights camping in Sleeping Bear and enjoyed hiking the Empire Bluff Trail. Great length for elementary-age kids. Pyramid Point trail was also fun, but our kids enjoyed the Dune Climb the most. Things are very spread out, so plan on doing some driving.

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore includes a number of excellent sites and is one of my favorite places to visit in Michigan. It really is a showcase for the natural beauty that Michiganders are so proud of. While many people hear Michigan and think Detroit, what comes to my mind is dazzling sand beaches and lakes so large they might... More

Just amazing! Views were breathtaking! Had no idea there were such large dunes in the US! Highly recommend the visitor's center first, then proceed through the park. We traveled in an RV and there is special RV parking throughout the park. We stopped at the epically tall dunes first. They have a sign. It will cost you money if they... More

Sleeping Bear dunes park is must see if you enjoy good hike, beautiful views and scenic locales. We visited the park in December so it was freezing temperatures and snow everywhere, but the views were simply breathtaking. We hiked for couple of hours and took beautiful pictures of frozen lake on one side and Lake Michigan another. Kids had great... More
