The Sand Point Lighthouse was constructed in 1867 to direct ships around the Sand point and into the deep water channel of the Escanaba Harbor. This building, with a 4th order Fresnel lens, has been restored to its original appearance, with a turn of the century interior. The building and grounds are on the National Register of Historic Places.

It was not as large as I thought it would be and it does not open for visitors until June 1. At least the day was pretty.

Haven't ever gotten inside, but it is located in Escanaba Michigan which has been our itinerary many times. Although I don't see a place to review ... Be sure to check out the Swedish Pantry and Sakellys Chocolates on Main Street. Very yummy

So much fun to bring the kids and adults at Christmastime! Decorated and has the smells of hot apple cider and home made cookies! Fun to climb the spiral staircase to the crows nest!

This is a cute lighthouse. We went there for a walk in the evening, so nothing was open. But it was still a nice view. Only downside, the mosquitos almost carried us away.

The visit doesn't take too long even it is a lot of stuff in the museum. It is a nice lighthouse, on a peninsula. The views of the lake are great, good photo opportunities.

We were up for the fall color so unfortunately the lighthouse was not open but the drive over was worth the trip. Nice area and the marina was pretty.

We live in the area, but every now and then we love to go to the light house and the museum and look at all the stuff, walk the steps to the top of the light house and just look out over the water. There is so much stuff in the light house and museum to look at. It's fun... More

The lighthouse is furnished and you can walk through the levels. There is a guide on hand to answer questions and our guide was quite informative and great with children. You can go out on top. While it is not as 'tall' as other lighthouses, if you have issues with heights, you may want to reconsider going out on top.... More

Interesting visit and nice people. Many old tools and implements to see. I found the Winchester ammunition display particularly informative.

Restoration on this lighthouse is wonderful. The grounds are well-kept, and there are several informative placard stations and maritime artifacts to view. The tour of the lighthouse was conducted by a knowledgeable docent. Be sure to go through the museum, too! We highly recommend a visit to the Sand Point Lighthouse.
