A group of ladies from our church went to Applewood and enjoyed a beautiful day. It was a fall festival and we toured the grounds and the house. We ate apples, had cider (2 kinds), and a delicious pumpkin slice. I especially liked the chickens and the horses. I would like to go back and take the hour long tour... More

Applewood is a true gem and must see attraction in an area that has seen its share of hard economic times and negative publicity lately. What was most impressive was the beautifully manicured grounds and gardens. Have frequently visited several of the estates in the Detroit area (Cranbrook, Meadow Brook, Fairlane, Edsel & Eleanaor Ford Estate, etc.) I must say... More

We had a great time yesterday touring the estate of C.S.Mott and walking the gardens of the estate. The home is open with reservations, so I would recommend calling ahead to get a tour time. The gardens are open without reservations. The experience is FREE. They have a very nice FREE guidebook and map that explains quite a bit. The... More

Strolls on the grounds of Applewood are always enjoyable, but even more so when there is a special event with music, food, and, of course, those flowers! This year is the 100th anniversary of the state so it is open every week. I can't wait to tour the mansion, open to the public for the first time ever!

My family and I have gone to Applewood for various events over the last 3 years. We went recently for Applewood's birthday celebration and it was a lovely event. We strolled the grounds and ate cake and drank juice. They had music and crafts. Of course they offered bottled water /coolers everywhere for visitors. This time there were two different... More

Applewood is such an amazing oasis in the middle of a city. The grounds are magnificent and the house amazing. Historically it is very fascinating to hear how the Mott's lived.

We visited during a holiday weekend. My husband and I showed up just in time for the garden tour. Highly recommend. We got lucky because there was an older woman who needed a golf cart so we had a great shaded tour. Afterwards we took a house tour. In our group we had two "extra" tour guides, ie older men... We had no idea this place was in Flint. Lovely estate. The grounds were beautiful. All of the flowers and trees...such a peaceful place. The house is really nice. We took the guided tour. Reservations are recommended; however, they were able to get us in without one. It was not very busy when we went. We look forward to visiting... More

I love visiting Applewood. The gardens change during the seasons so try to visit several times during the growing season . Children will enjoy playing on the large frog . Lots of family fun activities check out their web or Facebook page and they are all free .

This is the first year EVER that you can actually go inside the house and take a tour. Just as in the past... admission is always FREE! The Applewood Estate is open Thursday through Sunday 11am to 4pm all summer long. Visit the official website for more information about scheduling a tour. #applewood100 for social media info.
