Quick visit this is not! There are so many things to see and do that you should be prepared to spend some good quality time here. Whether it's playing with the lego section, or seeing the huge slab of copper that came from the Upper Peninsula, there is plenty to keep people interested! If you want a sit-down area there... I could honestly spend hours and hours in here! There is so much to see and so much to read, so much to interact with. They also have exhibits that change at different times, so even if you go back, you may still have new things to learn and see. Great for the whole family, history buffs or not.

You'll look far and wide before finding a more interesting historical experience for Michigan; the 20th century exhibit alone is wonderful. I happened to be there for the opening and can tell you the 60's section (complete with Motown sound) is a hoot. It also gives you a sense of the WWII effort and the Willow Run bomber factory, and... We went here as a family and it was educational, worth the time to do it once. my son had a passport book with several places here in Lansing that if he went to he could win some type of prize, so we took a day and toured several local small places.

A wonderful way to spend the day. The library is right there too. I still to this day am unsure whether the towering pine tree inside the building is real or fake. I love Lansing and everything Michigan! Especially the historical fact that Michigan was the first state to outlaw capital punishment! I also know Michigan's birthday - since it... More

Yes, we admit it - we're history museum junkies. While passing through Lansing recently, we took a couple hours to visit this museum and the nearby state capitol. It is a good museum that covers Michigan history from the pre-contact Native Americans through around the 1960s. There are sections on military history (Civil War, Spanish-American War, World War I, and... More

If you are a fan of architecture, I highly recommend the MCM exhibit-- really really well done!! My dad helped design Minoru Yamasaki's home while the firm designed the World Trade Center. Check out the second floor while there. The enormous map of the state and the Grrreat Lakes is impressive, as are the other displays highlighting our state's rich... More
