Nice hike out there. With a lot of kids it might be much. We only have one. It's definitely worth it though!

The lighthouse is nicely placed for photos of it in front of Lake Michigan. There is easy parking and a nice walk too.

The beautiful lighthouse is breathtaking even more beautiful than pictured. The walk to the lighthouse is not for the faint-hearted, but oh so worth the walk. The shoreline, the park around the area on the way to the lighthouse it quiet, beautiful and very calming. Once you get to the lighthouse you will enjoy a very quaint and inviting place,... More

A long walk from the campground, enjoyed walking up to the top of the lighthouse. Cost 5 per person to go to the top.

We walked the one and a half mile trek to the lighthouse, paid for the walk up to the top ($5/person). Saw a short film before the climb. 150 feet on spiral stairs is not for the faint of heart. It was a very windy day so a quick walk outside for the view and pictures and then a cramped... More

My boyfriend and I took a trip to Michigan's coast to see lighthouses this weekend. This was the second-to-last lighthouse we saw and it was beautiful! It was quite a hike to get there, but it was totally worth it. The tour was well done, informative, and educational, and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. You must visit this... More

The lighthouse is 1.8 miles from the Holland State Park in Michigan via hard packed road. It is a wonderful bike from the park and the lighthouse hosts are so knowledgeable and willing to share the history and video of the 1800's mission. A journey up the 120# steps is easy and the views rewarding.

First, if you prefer flush toilets, go just before you get to the park! I got locked in the pit toilet chamber out by the lighthouse, but my husband pulled while I threw my weight against the door, and I got out. That said, when in Ludington, I cannot more highly recommend the hike out to the Big Sable Lighthouse... More

even though it is a 45 minute gentle walk from the parking lot to the lighthouse - and moskitos keep chasing you on the way - it is really worth going and being on top of the lighthouse gives you great views on the lake and the area. we really loved it.
