Great adventure! There was so much to do and I was never bored! Would recommend! Check out the golden Budha statue or look at the beautiful architecture of the building. The tour guides and locals are so kind! The food tastes delicious and is cheap to an American such as myself! Again, I would recommend a trip here. This is sure to make its mark in your memories.

Though we are not Buddhist but found the place very relaxing. But the crowd is too much here. A place where you will found peace and relaxation specially near Bodhi tree. Here lord Buddha did meditation at seven places for seven days in the compound in various states. We took guide and he explain everything wrt historical and religious significance of place and took 300rs. There are many monasteries of different countries and you should visit few to appreciate different art and culture confluence in one small town. A minimum minimum half day . Only Mobile and electronics are not allowed and rest allowed and you can take them along. So better keep mobile and other things at hotel or somewhere safe. Though there are lockers but few and you have to wait as per crowd. We covered Bodhgaya and Nalanda from Patna in one day which was a bad decision. Ideally it should be one day at Bodhgaya , stay at rajgira( may be veerayartan) and next day rajgira and Nalanda. We take taxi and we fixed 5000 for all this. Later he forcefully ask 11000 and took amount taking advantage of being a tourist . In our Bihar and Jharkhand tour we almost encountered same things that left a bad image of state. I won’t come these states again. We tried Ola and Savari outstation but there service will cancel at 11th moment on two instances. Few taxi operators asked exorbitant money. Though places are good but I will not recommend my nearest one to visit the states. India has got lot of good places to explore in a lifetime. These are my personal views only. I am writing this to make aware people of these things and make informed decision. If you have some trustworthy or reference from some Homestay…. Than take them along…

It’s a must visit. The beat time to go is in the evening. It looks surreal! To cut the queue make sure you don’t carry your phones. If you want to take pictures get a camera pay for it and carry it inside or there are photographers inside(incase you want a pic).

Felt very close to my soul, peaceful and the teachings were remarkable. The place has changed over the years but the energy around is same. Always positive, people are kind and friendly. Sacred as it is, I try visiting as much as I could in my life

This temple sits at the site where the Buddha found enlightenment. A descendent of the original Bodhi tree under which the Buddha became bodhi is adjacent to the entrance of the temple, protected by stone railings. The architecture of the temple is very similar to the Hindu buildings contemporary with the time period of Emperor Ashoka. A tall pyramidal stupa similar to the still extant South Indian Hindu style of architecture. There is a throng of people trying to get inside, not helped by the fact that the interior is surprisingly small. There’s an image of Buddha directly opposite the entrance. A beautiful place to visit even if you’re not Buddhist. Note that camera phones are no longer allowed inside, although still cameras are and there's a charge for that as well. How times have changed.

This is a magical place, so peaceful and beautiful. I like to come to the Temple by 05:00 and wait the opening with monks, and after that my morning meditation starts under the Bodhi Tree. Definitely will return to The Mahabodhi Temple.

Mahabodhi temple is seen to be believed and experienced. It has amazing ambience, character and authenticity about it. The walk around the garden, the Mahabodhi temple itself, the buddha temple and overall spirituality experience is just great.
