Come for the star sand.

Not good for swimming as there are plenty of shallow places with sharp stones in the water. View is nothing special as well. Stars are there, checked, if you can't find them, you... read more

To many rocks and and sharp stones and also small and crowded so nothing to spend much time on because other alternatives are much better just nearby

The beach itself isn't great for swimming (shallow/rocky) but it is very beautiful and wonderful for finding little natural treasures. There are tons of little hermit (?) crabs around if you look close. If you are on Taketomi island, you will stop here.

Kaiji beach is a great place to search for 'star sand'. Star sand isn't actually sand at all, it is formed from the remains of tiny star-shaped crustations which barely exceed a millimeter in diameter. Collecting the sand is a painstaking task but if you haven't got time you'll be pleased to learn that it's sold at souvenir stores, including... More

Well from reading other reviews am sure you have great expectations with the sand. This is actually a low point but the stars are somewhere else. If you have kids it can ge very shallow at low tide. Then have not seen any jellyfish even on a very hot afternoon. Safe ! Snorkelling is ideal due to the strong presence... More

Not good for swimming as there are plenty of shallow places with sharp stones in the water. View is nothing special as well. Stars are there, checked, if you can't find them, you are probably doing it wrong... There are maybe 1 on 100 of those star-shaped particles in the sand, so it's quite a tedious job if you want... This beach is not for swimming and everyone is here for the same reason. Put a handful of sand on your palm and you will see the amazing stars!

Yes a nice beach but no soft sand really just coral sand. The shallow nature of the sea makes swimming impossible, rather a dip in the sea is the best it gets!

We spent about 15 minutes here. The sand is star shaped which is cool but... that's about it. The sand quality isn't good quality or even big enough for you to stay and enjoy a sunbathe or a dip. We rode a bike to get here, which I highly recommend to get around the island to see the sights.

It's often a part of the bus tour, so it gets busy whenever tour busses arrive. (Though "busy" in Taketomi means nothing compared to our standard.) Like Kondoi beach, I recommend a bicycle trip there so that you can stay there as long as you like. You can walk along the coastline, off the main area, and it's a lot... More

Four of us spent about 1/2 hour looking for the stars in the sand. Finally gave up and just bought a small jar with the stars. Sand has been picked over. Swimming very bad at this place. Good news is it is easy to get to. City bus takes you if you do not want to walk for 10 minutes... More
