Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The beautifully restored structure and surrounding open field at the northeastern corner of Hwaseong is the training ground of troops and royal guards. Yeonmudae is the place to practise archery and martial arts in preparation of war or invasion. This will also be the first point of interest for visitors coming from Seoul.

Great to see as part of the walls walk. Start at the Palace and go counter clockwise. The round-trip us about 6km and takes 2-3 hours with stops.

Yeonmudae is a pavilion and a post in northeast of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress.
It's a huge place and good to spend time.
- Yeonmudae Area seems to indicate the whole part nearby. From Yeonmudae Tourist Information Center to Yeonmudae, it's 10~15 min walk on the hill.
- Locating on a high area, Yeonmudae has a great view. It's a pretty good place to relax after wall walking.
- To the west, it leads to Hwahongmun(Buksumun) and Dongbukgakru(Banghwasuryujeong). To the east, it leads to Dongbukgongsimdon and Changryongmun Gate. They are also nice places to visit.
- At Yeonmudae Tourist Information Center, there's an archery field and it's fun to try.
- Hwaseong Fortress Tourist Trolly starts near Yeonmudae Tourist Information Center. Ticket booth is a small place next to it.

Yeonmudae is a command post on Suwon Hwaseong Fortress. It's a nice place to see the scenery of Suwon city on the top. You can see both city view and also fortress view.

There were many kites in the blue sky and some people tried archery at the front of it. I've heard this place was ancient army training ground. I could go inside and had a rest sitting on the wooden floor.

The wall walk is doable and easy , the gate is massive and you can take good shots of it from across the archery range.
