Enjoyed our time here. Spent about 45 minutes reading the pages about the various people and legends of Nicaragua. Old prison turned into a museum.

The building and grounds served as a prison and even as a "madhouse" in the past. But this part of the history is far over-shadowed by the weird paper mache statues that are supposed to depict local myths and legends. The paper mache statues are...More

A look into some of the history of Nicaragua. This place has a lot of emotion with it especially with me having served in Iraq. It makes you really feel for the people of Nicaragua and the terrible things that they have had to endure....More

Enjoyed the museum and all of the displays. There's also a section on the sad history and it's on the old prison where many atrocities were done. Loved some of the old legends of Nicaragua.

The museum was very interesting with all kind of stories and myths, in the old prison that was used during the revolution. Our guide spoke English, but didn't really tell about the myths himself. He remembered all texts from the signs by heart (which is...More

We stopped here one afternoon, not knowing what to expect. Essentially, it's a bunch of statues depicting urban legends that influence the Nicaraguan culture. If you're a culture or history buff, this could be for you. Or, if you just like to see crazy statues,...More

Interesting place to learn about the dark history of Nicaragua with spooky life size exhibit dolls and lots of explanations on traditions but also on the oppression of and fight against the CIA.
