We booked a 12 wine tasting and tour of the winery. We learned so much about wine and even tried some wines out of our comfort zone. We spent over 2 hours talking about wine and sharing experiences. This was one of our favorite stops in Alsace.

A really really really nice wine tasting thanks to the madame who runs the cave with her husband. Excellent hospitality, she also speaks a perfect English and she explained the character of the wines in a lovely way. After the visit of the cave, we booked the “big” tasting for 12 wines, but at the end we were offered more. Two hours of interesting chat and wonderful, mineral, super deep wines. Absolutely recommended, you won’t go away without buying some of their bottles. Last but not least: the range of bottlings is huge, there are a lot of things to try, different vintages, different terroirs, different grapes… take your time and let her guide you through them

We had booked in advance to do a tasting at Louis Sipp and we are so glad we visited. We were welcomed in and told to wait for Mr Sipp, he came in shortly and asked us if we would like to see the cellar quickly as it was during harvest. We felt very privileged to see this especially during harvest as no other winery would allow it. After a quick look around we went to the bar to do some tasting, he asked us what we liked and then totally spoilt us with a tasting 7 Grand Cru Riesling and some more before. We ended up buying one of each Osterberg vintages and went away very happy customers.

Waiting in queue to be attended at their store . No one comes. Surprised we waited a little bit more. Mistake .... Suddenly a old lady from the other side of the counter “ what’s your problem” ...... both me and my wife shocked. Response - we wanted to taste and buy some rose.
Old lady no you can’t taste it as you have ice cream in your hand in the most rude tone possible. We were almost on the verge of bursting out but our culture does not teach us to be rude to an elderly lady. We walked out just having one thing in mind was it the case of “ r “sm. Yes it was. As I said the wine must be good ( which we did not taste) but surely the people representing the store weren’t.

Louis Sipp was not a winery I had heard of before, but when booking wine tasting in Ribeauville, this came up as highly recommended.
I cannot agree more. We got a very nice tour of the facilities and ended up with a very good winetasting with focus on the types of wines we liked.
The Grand Cru Riesling is one of the 5 best wines I have tasted. Also the Cremant is wonderful.
This was an amazing experience that I would love to do again.

We've been visiting and buying several times and will be back for sure. When you take your time and are really interested in (buying) wine, this is a very good place to go. The owners are happy to explain and let you discover their very wide range of wines for all tastes and all budgets. There are even a couple of excellent reds. Most of the wines are bio and you feel that a lot of attention has gone into the whole process. There are different tasting options: in the small shop with vintage 70s decor, in a nice airy big room for groups and if you are very lucky, maybe a quick peek in the cellars.
The family of the owners have five very tastefully refurbished modern rooms available in the house next door, which are really perfect for a short or even long stay in the area.

We went on a wine tour that included Sipp. We had the wine makers Wife tell us about their wine And we got to see the cellar. We tasted about 5 wines including 2 really good rieslings.
If u like Rieslings go to Sipp. Try the wine. Get the story.

We arrived in Colmar with the intent to tour the Riesling Trail for a day. The Tourism Office were very helpful but all the day tours were fully booked. We were willing to pay $125 Euro per person (4 of us) for a VIP tour but we couldn't get a seat.

Public Transport to the rescue!! For $13 Euro return we boarded the local bus to Ribeauville and spent the day tasting wines from four Winemakers!! The bus left at 9.00am for the 50mins trip and returned at 5pm.

Louis Sipp is one on the oldest winemakers in the region and we were very lucky to have the winemakers wife (75 years young) guide us through the tasting process.

Make sure you get to the Village before 12pm as everything closes for the traditional 90mins French lunch.

Our interaction with Madame Sipp was incredibly awkward and unpleasant. The wine tasting felt more like detention; Madame Sipp the school teacher and us the bad students. The delicious taste of the wine was overwhelmed by her strange and condescending attitude.

There are many other wineries in Ribeauvillé. Visit them instead.

Surprised to find Louis Sipp tasting room open on a Saturday evening, we wandered inside, hopes high, planning to make a small purchase. We inquired if we were too late for tasting, but were politely invited to stay (even though it was well-past closing). We were given full attention after the couple prior to us left. After discussing our preferences, the woman assisting us (did not get her name but she was delightful) proceeded to share information about and tastes of the wines we were interested in (and a few surprises). Never felt rushed in any way so, in the end, we purchased about 8 bottles. She even shared a special dessert wine at the end of our visit, along with a great wine bar suggestion. We ate elsewhere but wished we had more time to also enjoy her recommendation that evening (appeared very busy with an energetic vibe). I'm sure we would have enjoyed it every bit as much as the restaurant we found.
We enjoyed a pleasant and very personable tasting experience at Louis Sipp and highly recommend a visit. Hopefully you will have the opportunity, as we did, to learn about the region, the people and the vines (and to buy their delicious wines).
