About
CookDordogne at Le Chevrefeuille offers regional cookery courses, family cookery courses, cooking demonstrations and market tours all year around. Our One Day Regional Cookery Course is for all levels of budding and enthusiastic cooks. The day starts with a local market tour with Chef Ian where he will explain the vast array of local produce and share with you his experience and knowledge of buying and preparing food from this amazing, unique region. Then it's back to the kitchen to cook a delicious long lunch. Our Family Cookery Course runs from 10am to 1pm. The course will focus on some regional classics as well as some innovative cooking tips which will help you back in your own kitchen. During the morning you will be guided through preparing your own two course lunch. Our Cooking Demonstrations are for those who wish to relax, taste and watch Chef Ian prepare some of the delights from the Perigord Noir. All courses are in English. Accommodation is also available.

- JudyBrooklynBrooklyn, New York7 contributionsHighlight of trip to the DordogneIan’s regional cooking class was the highlight of our week in the Dordogne. It was a full day of cooking and eating and drinking in a magnificent setting with an inspired teacher. I left with some great recipes and a few new cooking skills. Highly recommend!Visited May 2023Travelled with familyWritten 4 June 2023
- Genfr17 contributionsCooking class in Dordogne with Chef Ian-do not miss!My daughters and I took chef Ian’s class this past week while visiting family in Dordogne. I love the food from this region and thought that it would be a good opportunity to get the girls to discover it, as one of them is passionate about cooking and gastronomy. This experience was above and beyond what we expected. Organized in the most charming B&B owned by chef Ian and his wife Sara, the class was fun, full of useful information, the dish we made was a clever use of Dordogne ingredients in an Asian inspired recipe that turned out delicious. Chef Ian and his staff were very well organized and ran the class in a relaxed and friendly manner. My daughters loved it, especially the one who is less culinary inclined. I would give it a 6/5 rating if I could and we will definitely be back! I recommended it as a do not miss activity in Dordogne to my brother’s guests in his gîte.Visited June 2023Travelled with familyWritten 20 June 2023
- Carolyn WWelling, United Kingdom20 contributionsMore than just a cookery courseI wouldn’t normally book this sort of thing unless I was invited by a friend or family (which is what happened) but I must say this was the highlight of our visit to the Dordogne. Chef Ian is a charming, entertaining and enthusiastic host. Every step of the way was easy to follow, interspersed with lots of information about the local produce we were using. At the end you get to sit down for a great meal, great wine and a feeling of accomplishment. A fantastic day was had by all and we would certainly go again.Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 July 2023
- dakotatennisgirlSeattle, Washington2 contributionsOur lucky daySigned up spur of the moment and they had two spots left for us - so glad. It was well planned and orchestrated as there was a lot of real cookery going on!—many implements to use, bowls, pans, measuring devices, etc. - each station was kept perfectly outfitted as the lesson flowed along. Loved the meal we created and the caramel sauce was out of this world delicious. Do it!Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 July 2023
- MCN-Travels203 contributionsOur Half-Day Cooking Course was a Highlight of our Week in the Dordogne! We were a family group of eight, ranging in age from 77 to 9 years of age and with diverse cooking abilities. Chef Ian made it fun and educational for all! He was a master at organization, providing us with clear instruction and keeping us on task. At the same time he was sharing his passion for cooking with regional foods and providing us with great cooking tips, applicable to more than just the dishes we were preparing. Our cooking class was held in a pretty setting under a covered patio in the courtyard. There were four cooking stations, each one set up with all the bowls, utensils, and appliances we would need to prepare a delicious lunch. Ian's daughter Alice was assistant extraordinaire, keeping our work stations clean and clutter-free. Our cooking class featured crepes filled with confit duck and garnished with vegetables julienne and an avocado fan. Dessert consisted of a puff pastry shell holding berries and topped with whipped cream and caramel sauce. After preparation we sat down to a delightful lunch of our own making. An all-around great experience.Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 22 July 2023

Ian and Sara were so welcoming, and put my son at ease when he said he was a little nervous. Ian is a great teacher, very knowledgeable of local foods and helped us create some delicious food. - Helen3 contributionsThoroughly recommendedThis was a brilliant experience, my 12 year old son and I had a fantastic morning and of course delicious lunch. The set up is great, a lovely location and very well organised, and Ian is warm, knowledgeable and a great teacher. I am a fairly reasonable cook but we both learned a lot of hints and tips - and about the great local produce. A sociable lunch (self made!) was the perfect way to finish. We visit the Dordogne every year and this was one of our very favourite activities- thank you.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 11 August 2023

We went as a family of 5 (3 kids until the age of 13) and had a lovely morning making the most delicious food which we then sat down to eat together. I would thoroughly recommend this course - especially as my three were inspired so much by Ian's instruction that they have made some of the dishes for us again by themselves since we have been back! Great fun. Thank you Ian and Sara.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 10 September 2023

A great introduction to Perigourdian cuisine with fantastic ingredients all washed down with good local wines. Ians delivery is first class and extremely engaging - we had an excellent day. This is a fantastic holiday distraction , I absolutely recommend that you spend a day cooking with Ian
Unlike other cookery schools you are hands on from start to finish and every minute will be fun and challenging.
Particularly when the wine starts to flow.
Your visit will cover all levels of ability , learning about the local produce and enjoying good company.
We’ve been many times now with friends and all want to return .
Something different and no washing up.

This was everything we had hoped it would be. Casual, well organized, Ian had a sense of humour, the outdoor kitchen was perfect as was the food and the menu.
We took our time enjoying our happily prepared lunch with local wine and new friends from California.

Our day at Le Chevrefeuille was a great experience. Ian is a wonderful and entertaining teacher, the food and recipes delicious and doable, and the setting comfortable and beautiful. Our group got along well and we enjoyed learning how to make wonderful dishes celebrating the best of the Dordogne. Sara and Eleanor were also very welcoming and worked hard to make sure we enjoyed our time with them. We can’t wait to try some of the dishes at home!

This was a super fun experience where me and my family were able to learn a new recipe with the awesome help and guidance from chef Ian and his team.It was so fun to be able to really learn and try what you are making throughout the process of the class. Ian was really good at adapting the class for everyone. Especially because we had a few people which physical disabilities and he and his team didn’t hesitate and made sure every one was having fun and also giving great advice how to cook. I have done a few cooking classes in the past and this by far was my favorite experience by far. Highly recommended everyone getting doing a cooking class with this awesome company.
