Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a fab time on the river. We are a family of 4 with 2 young children (6 & 9) and were advised by the staff that we needed 2 canoes. We quickly discovered that this was due to weight as the river is so shallow in places that you are skimming the stones. We did have to get out and push at some points, my flip flops did survive but better footwear would probably be advisable.
We were asked what time we wanted to get the minibus back, we gave ourselves just over 2 and half hours but with a lovely stop off for lunch on some rocks we then found we were racing to get to the pick up point on time so you could easily spend longer.
The view of the Pont du Gard is just amazing
Would highly recommend

We too, like many others, chose to visit the Pont du Gard "from below" arriving there by canoe following the 8km of the Gardon river between its magnificent banks and narrow gorges, in short, an experience absolutely worth having despite the heavy canoe traffic in the month of August.
You can enjoy a swim or a picnic in the various coves or beaches, although there are minimal difficulties when there are coves where the water flows more quickly, especially if you have to deal with the many canoeists. .
The organization of Canoe Collias is perfect, you park, they take you by bus to the point where they will assign you the canoe and they pick you up at a point 1 km downstream from Pont du Gard, always by bus to take you back to the car park. The cost is reasonable 25 Euros each and 13 Euros for children up to 12 years old.

Fun trip. We had two couples with paddling experience and we enjoyed it all...including the little bit of quick water. We would recommend allowing a bit of extra time for stopping to see the Pont du Gard, swimming and/or picnicking along the way.

We chose to go with this operator for our kayaking trip down the river Gardon to Pont du Gard. They have their own private parking. Quick instructions, and we were off by 9am, and pretty much had the river to ourselves. The rapids need some effort to navigate (a heads up would've been good!), got wedged into the rock in the very first set of rapids and got sweaty and wet dislodging it. We chose the 8km beginner's circuit, and were picked up at a beach about 20 mins after Pont du Gard and returned to base. Efficient and well organised.

We booked the canoe tour from Collias to just beyond the Pont du Gard online. The very friendly staff handled everything perfectly and the tour was great fun. Completely unproblematic even for beginners and provided beautiful views. The canoes, including waterproof tanks for backpacks, cell phones, etc., and the life jackets were in very good condition. 25 euros per person is money well spent.

We are a family of three (2 adults and 1 child): booking was easy online and when we turned up it was easy to book in . I filled in a form and then we got a small bus to the river. We got our canoe and paddles and it was explained to us that we could stop at any point for a break and then explained where we had to stop after Pont du Gard(big yellow sign saying “STOP”). We packed a picnic before arriving and they had a big waterproof tub to put it in. We had the lost marvellous time paddling down the river, stopping for a picnic, leaping off rocks and taking in the most incredible views.
This is perfect for families of all ages as life vests are given to everyone. It’s simple enjoyable fun with amazing views.

Choosing a Monday morning 9.00 start was a great idea, as they are super busy over weekends and it’s good to paddle down in the quiet.
Your going down river which saves a lot of energy and can go easy or speed up depending how you feel.
Many birds (and noisy frogs) at some sections, with a few speedy shallow rapids to get you to the edge of your comfort zone.
Highlight were the birds and the journey under the Pont du Gard.
If your in the area it’s a must do.
Great service as you also get a shuttle bus back to start.
Waterproof box on the kayak to hold your possessions takes away a bit of stress.

Wonderful, relaxing, they were able to give us good directions and were prompt in picking us up. They gave us containers to put our stuff in so our stuff wouldn’t get wet. Definitely bring a picnic! You can stop partway through and have a lovely picnic on the bank of the river.

A great welcome. Top advice. Don't look at the time spent on the water, even if you miss the return reservation time.
Well-established organization, a great team. Canoes in good condition, watertight bison.
THANKS

Booked ahead and the owner kept me updated beforehand. Private car park. Quick safety run through and then onto the river. Amazing time. Knew our stop off time and where it was. Friendly staff ready to collect us and a quick drive back to base.
Reasonable price for a fantastic day.

I hope to visit in early June with two kids, ages 6 and 9, and my husband. Both are good swimmers (but young). Are the rapids difficult? I read that there can be whirlpools or eddys around the base of the aqueduct, which concerned me. My kids can swim in the pool for hours, but they don't have much experience with any sort of current.

Bonjour,
If we arrive to Pont du Gard via bus, do you have a shuttle that can pick us up there and bring us to your business?
Merci!

Hi, I'd like to know if you are open this November?

Sorry I don’t know
I was just a visitor and it was in August.
The website was good from memory so it should be able to tell you their opening hours I guess?
Good luck and wrap up warm.

Hi there, my husband and I are planning to do it on Oct. 2 in the afternoon around 2 to 3pm coming from Avignon. I read other comments that the shuttle choices for pick up time is either 3 or 4 hours and they recommended 4 hours. May I know how much time you need to spend to check out the Port Du Gard museum and the site during your break time and where do you get off the shore to do that? If you were there in Oct, was it a night show in the evening as well? Thank you for reading all the questions, hope to hear from you soon. ~Lai Lei~

This is a bit challenging. The Kayak trip is not really designed to incorporate a visit to the Pont du Gard Site. There is nowhere secure to leave the Kayaks while you visit the site and if the boats disappear the cost would be your responsibility.
The pick up point for the Canoe Collias paddle is about one km beyond the Pont du Gard.
My suggestion is to do the kayak trip and if the water is flowing strongly three hours is certainly possible if you are reasonably fit. Then let Canoe Collias take you back to their base: pick up your car drive back to the Pont du Gard and visit the site where you could easily spend 2 hours.

Hi,
We would like to do the 8km to Pont du Gard and look around the site when there. Can we leave the canoe in a secure place so that we can look around? Also, are we all allowed free access onto the aqueduct whilst there or do we have to come back and do that separately?
Regards
Written 5 August 2017
You can leave the canoe and climb up to have a look but I am not sure if you have to pay to get on the aqueduct and also not sure how secure the canoe will be without your supervision. The canoe company did not mention the option to park up and have a look, so we did not do that on our trip.

We are interested in taking this canoe trip DEMAIN, 7 Mai, for 4 people (two canoes). But wind is predicted to be 15 miles (20 km) per hour which is quite concerning. How would such a wind affect the canoeing?
We probably would want to start around midi.
Second question: do you use actual canoes (not kayaks) with canoe paddles (not kayak paddles)? I ask this because I have injured wrists and cannot manage a kayak paddle.

We are interested in your trip from Collias to Pont du Gard in early July. Do you have water proof containers to put our camera in? There are two of us. Is it possible to go with a guide and other people?
Thank you

Hello
Yes , we have waterproof containers for you
It's possible for a guide, but you need to reserve and you'll have to pay 120€ directly with him
The river is very quite,it's not necessary to go with a guide ....
See you soon
best regards
