I knew the three teenagers would not have the same interest as I in the amazing architecture of the aquaeduct and would hate to visit a museum, so instead I opted for a canoeing trip which would be a fun activity for them but reward me with the beautiful view of the Pont du Gard at the end of the canoe ride. The two 13-year-olds went into one canoe, I went into another canoe with my 70-year-old mother and a 10-year-old. While we were struggling a bit and had to keep up, the teenagers went along the river effortlessly. It was mostly shallow and we were all equipped with the mandatory life vests. My French is very limited so I did not understand why they asked me which bus (at what time) I wanted to book to take us back to the car park. Since they told us the trip would take 2 hours we booked the one leaving in 2 hours. I would do it differently if I had to do it again! There are numerous opportunities to go onto the shore along the river and have a nice picnic along the shore or take a break to have a swim. Some people were even fishing in the river. If I had known I would have added at least two more hours to the trip. Also be prepared to get wet and to jump into the water to pull the canoe along the spots that are too shallow. We left our change of clothes in the car due to our inexperience, so we had to ride the bus back in our wet clothes, even though the ride was short. They provide you with a water tight barrell to put in your dry change of clothes or anything else that needs to stay dry. I wish their website had informed me of the possibility to take breaks on the shore, everything else went really well though. They offer other canoeing destinations as well. We made online reservations, but I think we might have also gotten tickets on site, which would have allowed us greater flexibility since we hardly made it on time due to heavy traffic.

A very great and cool place to spend a day with friends and family,on winter there are less activity but good for promonade,it very interesting during hot summer, for canoeing, swimming or rather spend a day along the banks of the rover, the water is cold and refreshing but very agreeable when the sun is hot at 30*. Its just like an ordinary beach over the hot river pebbles.Have fun!

The best experience I have had in years. I am partially disabled and the staff here were exeedingly helpful and patient and made sure I was as safe as I could possibly be in a canoe. Great experience going down the Gardon River and through the Pont du Gard, in fact really the only way to see it properly is from the river. Canoe Collias are first rate in my estimation.

What an amazing experience - that best way to see the Pont Du Guard. We parked up at the site in Collias (parking is free in their car park) getting the kayak was really easy and good value for money, we were very quickly life-jacket'd up and in the water. We went early which i'd recommend as it was nice a quiet. We kayaked down the Gardon which is 8K. It wasn't as easy as i thought it would be, but by no means hard, if anything it just added more fun as we had to be tactical along the route, some parts were quite shallow and we had to get out and pull the canoe along, there were also mini rapids which we navigated well and were really fun! It was by far the best way to see the Pont Du Guard, the approach is just beautiful, you can pull up and get out of the canoe, stop and take pictures etc (You put all your belongings in a water tight barrel they give you). You agree a time to meet at the pick up point, so you can take as long as you like. The pick up point is about a 25minute kayak further down stream and they take you back to your car. A brilliant experience, i'd highly recommend Canoe Collias, i'd also recommend wearing your swimming kit to have a paddle in when you get to the Pont Du Guard and also to go early so the Gardon is quiet.

Great fun for the whole family! Canoe Collias was well organized and efficient. The route was very easy and in August there are spots you have to get out and walk a few steps because it’s a bit too shallow. We would have loved more rapids but I imagine earlier in the summer or in the spring they are there. Lots of spots to stop at leisure on the river. The Pont du Guard is amazing. We all agreed that this was a top highlight of our trip to France. Kids 12 & 9 years old.
