Beautiful place. Very nice displays of the lumbering his. Walked down 200 feet to the bottom worth the 262 steps back up! The store was very nice, cute things. Reasonable prices. The DNR employees very knowledgeable.

Would recommend if looking for somewhere to go with history behind it. It has a little room off the back of the cabin dedicated to the fire of 1911. Has a nice picnic area and beautiful views of the lake.

You can see Bald Eagles in the wild. A place to get away from it all. Hiking trails, fishing, boating, picnicking, take your camera.

😍 we love this place. I've been coming here for 15+ years! Beautiful scenic overlooking the ausable river. And a large sandy hill to run down or hike up.

Over 100 years ago, lumber was a huge industry here in Northern Michigan. It is fascinating to learn more about the history of this almost abandoned profession.
