My wife wanted to take a walk and enjoy some nature, so we took the easy walking Bear River. Was a nice round about walk and wasn't difficult to do the inclines and some rocks. Nice river sounds where the water gets a little fast...More

Took a walk along the Bear River and enjoyed the wooded area and ability to be so close to the rushing water. Not a long trail but well worth it.

We walked along part of a trail but it was hot with far less tree cover than we expected. We went looking for Petoskey stones and found some.

Just a short water from the marina and you are on the wooded trails alongside Bear River. The sound of the gurgling waters as you walk up the trails is so relaxing. Stop on the bridges to catch a view of the gentle falling waters....More

This is an amazing trail to hike by a river. We took my father- in- law who was also able to walk it. Nice afternoon in nature not too far from downtown petoskey.

The Bear must be the shortest river in Michigan. It begins in Walloon Village as the outflow from Walloon Lake and then makes a “U” turn and heads north through Petoskey into Little Traverse Bay........which is part of Lake Michigan. Entire distance.....less than 20 miles....More

Nice walking and biking trails that take you from the marina south pass the spillway to the southern city limits. Great fishing from the bridge. One of the best white water kayak runs in the Mid-West.

No matter what time of year if you dress for the weather this is one of the most beautiful spots along Petoskey's Waterfront. There is both a paved (west side) and non-paved (east side) trail along the banks of the river. There are a total...More

What I love most about this area is it is tucked into a busy commercial/residential area and yet, you can snow shoe, hike, visit and not even know the town is around you. The Bear River runs wild through the area and it is beautiful...More
