Stayed at Lighthouse County Park campground which is adjacent to Pointe aux Barques Lighthouse. It's free to tour the lighthouse. This is a working lighthouse that has a long, tragic history.

Although we have visited the lighthouse a number of times, we are always amazed at the history we learn each time. The group that maintains the lighthouse does an amazing job keeping up with the exhibits. There is a lot of information packed into the little house attached to the lighthouse. There is even more information packed into the minds... More

I have been visiting this lighthouse for years in Lighthouse park. Great views of lake Huron. Wonderful opportunities to check out the museum as part of the museum. Check site, if you want to climb to the top of the lighthouse for a nominal fee. Souvenir shop is open on weekends. Wonderful camping facilities nearby. Boat ramp and swimming in... More

This is a great place to camp. We camp in a full hook up site for 10 days. Wonderful view and lots of peace and quiet. It is a 45 min drive to the closest moderate size town so plan accordingly. Lots of small mom and pop grocery stores in the nearby villages. The lighthouse tower is only open a... More

We stopped by on our trip of the thumb. The lighthouse has a great little museum with many stories of shipwrecks. It also shows what life was like in a lighthouse. We then walked to the lake - beautiful. Be aware that that you cannot climb to the top.

We made the long 2 hour drive specifically to see Point Au Barques Lighthouse and we were npt disappointed! It is easy to get to once we had it in Maps. We loved the view, the museum was staffed with wonderful volunteers and the grounds are very well-kept. We couldn't go up to the light but every room in the... More

This lighthouse is well maintained and furnished with many period pieces of furniture and artifacts. The grounds are large and provide a spectacular view of the lake. There is a small gift shop and the staff was very friendly. Worth a stop!

Lighthouse was closed but we were able to walk all around it and get pictures. No fee to enter park and not hard to find.

This is one of my favorite lighthouses because it is so photographic. It looks like a different lighthouse from every angle. The name Port Hope has a special place in my heart since I am a cancer surviver of three years.
