A lot of history in this lighthouse. We went through the house (up stairs and down), wanted to go to the top of the lighthouse, but there was not enough staff to allow for that on the day we toured. Nice playground areas in the...More

Toured the lighthouse today! The lighthouse is open a few times a year for tours. We went on Sunday of Labor day. The volunteers who work there are very knowledgeable and it is very well run. There are 80 some steps to almost the top...More

This lighthouse is located just outside Port Austin Michigan. It is still an active lighthouse. There is a very nice museum with the history of the lighthouse. Unfortunately the time we visited you could not climb to the tower. They only allow climbs to the...More

Two for one, a lighthouse and a campground. Nice grass to sit on while grilling out and watch the sun godown while watching the birds fly over the lake. Life could not be much better than this.
