A friend and I decided to go to the zoo on a nice winter day. What a great experience. Weather was beautiful, animals were having a good time. The new penguin house is something to see - best I've ever been too.

The new penguin display is fabulous. The entire zoo has great habitats, many fascinating exhibits, and the train is great.

This was my first time going to the Detroit Zoo and I’ve got to say that it was very aesthetic!! They have a lot of lovely fountains (my favorite being the bear fountain,) beautiful habitats, and several underwater tanks that lets animals swim over you!! They have a wide variety of animals there, such as two different colored wolves, red... More

I go to the zoo about once a month (having an annual pass makes it easy to get there often). New Penguin exhibit is great, and the zoo is always a nice place to walk around - even if just for an hour or so. Last time there a polar bear was swimming and playing right above the plastic viewing... More

We head down to the Detroit Zoo between Christmas & New Years Day to celebrate the holidays with their spectacular Wild Lights display. MILLIONS & MILLIONS of LED lights illuminating trees & buildings with hundreds of animal sculptures scattered about the Zoo. Always a great experience with my family and something that we really look forward to every winter!

I went to the zoo with a friend and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The new penguin exhibit is so well-done. I love all of the updates. My friend and I also acted like a couple of kids and rode the carousel.

Animals are saved, not taken from their natural homes. Have a wide variety of anomalies and a theatre(never been). Great new penguin exhibit, amphibian exhibit and wolf exhibit. There is a lot for the kids. They have dip and dots!!!!! Take the train around the whole I and be a ground hog. It's worth the trip. And they have a... More

I've always liked visiting zoos - not just because I like animals, but how the animals are housed & their general appearance says a lot about those who care for them. The Detroit Zoo does a phenomenal job on every front, starting with ease of parking (most zoos I know of don't have parking garages & bridges to get to... More

This zoo has undergone some improvement since the last time I was there. The new penguin house is very impressive. It is a truly immersive and interactive environment that allows you to get very up close and personal with the penguins. There is also information about other arctic animals and the arctic environment in general. The penguins do not disappoint.... More
