We stayed at the campground for a couple nights mid week in July. The campsites are available first come first serve (no reservations) so we were very lucky to come across the last lake side campsite when we arrived around noon on a Wednesday. As recommended by the park rangers, you should arrive by 9am if you hope to get... More

We stopped at the beach and were amazed at all the rocks. We spent nearly an hour walking along looking through all the rocks and amazed at the colors!

Even though the water was still cold it was great to get wet and enjoy the water and beach. It was beautiful!

We hit nearly every beach in PRNP. We spent several hours playing in the sand, looking through rocks and walking on this beautiful beach! We loved all the beaches. If your reading this and trying to decide whether or not to visit Pictured rocks NP, don't wait start planning your trip now!!! You won't be disappointed. Breath taking scenery!

Twelve Mile Beach has a very nice campground, which of course you must pay to use but would be well worth the price. The campground features 36 sites on a high sandy plateau above the beach and Lake Superior. There are three sets of stairs to the beach as well and a day-use picnic area with parking. A two-mile-long interpretive trail... More

This is a long beach with a mix of bright sand and an assortment of pebbles. The parking lot is right off the main road, and there is a short walk down some stairs to the beach. Great place for skipping rocks off of the water. It also gives you a great sense of the vastness of Lake Superior. We... More

One of my favorite beaches that I've ever been to, part of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. - - Beautiful colorful little rocks line the sugar-sand beach of Lake Superior. Has been listed as one of the top beaches in the nation for beauty. Rugged, isolated, beautiful. - - A must see.

It begins at the level of Beaver Lake and stretches to the East for I assume 12 miles…? We always access it from the same point, about 1,5 mi hike from Little Beaver Lake campground. I get the same rush of excitement when getting close to the water; you can see the clearing, start to hear the waves, take a... More

We've visited 12 mile beach multiple times and we've camped here twice, most recently this past week. The beach itself is isolated and unspoiled with lots of sand and cool Lake Superior rocks. Stable flies can be an issue in late June and July when there is a south wind. As for the campground it is an awesome quiet campground... More

We stopped there to relax and have our food (picnic basket). This place is so calm and sound of water touching the shore is so nice to hear. We spent 40 mins there and then headed back to our destination, but if I would have had the time I could have spent hours just gazing at Lake. But if you... More
