It has a nice bike path to South Haven. The camping is average but there are better beaches in the resort town of South Haven with better views.

My wife and I had booked a nearby municipal campground. When we arrived there, the campsite was a gravel parking lot, so we called Van Buren State Park in hopes they would have a spot open for the weekend. Fortunately for us, they did! The...More

This was a morning well spent. The trail through the woods was beautiful and quiet, leading to several gorgeous overlooks on the dunes. It's not a hike, more of a walk or stroll except for the final scramble up the dunes for the view. If...More

We attended a birthday party in the park and the kids loved the beach afterward. I would recommend water shoes, the first few feet into the water is very rocky. Also, if the playground that we saw was the only one, its basically a slide.

There is a required $9.00 daily park fee on top of the camping charges. This campground is congested & busy on the weekend. There were multiple tents at a lot of sites & quite a few cars too. I prefer to have some space between...More

There are too few restrooms for the size of the campground. One resttoom has had a shower out of order for two years. They need to build newer, larger restrooms. When the campground is full, it can be rather noisy.

I don't know if they have a rule but I saw people drinking. The back of the camping permit you get when you arrive lists some of the Michigan state parks rules but it does not mention anything about alcohol.
