Beautiful views and wonderfully maintained by the US Forest Service. Nice trails--and steps down to the valley river... "climb the 272 stairs down to the Au Sable River's edge! Drinking fountains and restrooms are on site."

We loved the visit at Lumberman's Monument. Lots of stairs but well worth the effort. Well maintained too!

Family of four. Kids 9 & 11. The monument was a fantastic history lesson. The metal steps are a nice upgrade from Iargo springs. The park is well kept. It's worth the stop and walking the steps. Don't forget a bottle of water. Thank you.

Don't miss out on this informative and scenic park. So very fortunate to have people preserve this piece of Michigan history and most importantly the beaury of our state's nature resources.

No need to go all the way down all the steps to the river for beauty. And really enjoyed learning more about Michigan and the lumber industry. Details not known about cooking, eating, fires, the tough way they transported them downriver and hazards were described...More
