- BigMerkGlasgow, United Kingdom2,709 contributionsMassive mall - good shops and restaurantsWe visited here as part of a road trip. The primary reason for our visit was to play the escape room but we didn’t a couple of hours going around the shops. It was very busy and some of the food places had queues. Inside, as well as shops and restaurants, were 2 mini golf courses, a huge play area for kids, a Sea-life centre and other attractions. It was well signposted throughout and parking was free.Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 5 October 2023
- SnowyShastaPortland, Oregon2,329 contributionsLarge and unique mallI'd heard of this mall well before we ever even thought of coming to Minnesota, so upon discovering that it was quite near the airport and our hotel, we went over to check it out one evening. It's huge and we got an hour or two of entertainment just wandering around window shopping and looking at all the thrill rides and stores. We especially liked the big displays around the Lego Store. We went into some of the stores, and they seemed similarly priced to other malls we've seen at home, and even bought a souvenir t-shirt for our home. We also grabbed some dinner at one of the many food court eating places. Overall it was a fun way to spend an evening (especially one that was a little rainy) and see a very unique indoor location.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 October 2023
- MacyWisconsin39 contributionsA Favorite DestinationWe love visiting the mall of america a few times a year. There is always a wide variety of things to do and places to shop. For the most part clean, safe, and easy to get around in. Compared the other malls, obviously this one is massive and is packed with people. So if you don’t like big crowds, try to go on a weekday or time it isn’t busy.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 January 2024

Location: 5 Parking: 5 Variety of selections: 5 Cleanliness: 5 Security: 5 We visited this national attraction last weekend while we were visiting the Minneapolis area. I would highly recommend that you give yourself plenty of time, because the mall has 4 floors and hundreds of different stores.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 February 2024

MACY's Nordstroms are major "anchor" tenants. Huge Lego store with opportunities to simply play with legos for hours People watching is great - some people come here just to walk.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 February 2024

The amusement park is great with really big roller coaster rides in it but the mall itself is not impressive. Kind of underwhelming!Visited April 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 16 March 2024
- Heather JHuntsville, Alabama65 contributionsOne stop for Shopping AND EntertainmentI admit I was a little skeptical about this mall. I mean a mall is a mall, right…NOPE!! I was completely surprised at the amount of stores and things to do this place holds! From the Nickelodeon amusement park, axe throwing, go carts, mini golf, restaurants and not to mention actual shopping, this place was amazing! It was cold in Minnesota while we were there so this was the perfect place to spend the day!Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 March 2024

Definitely worth visiting if you’re in the area. I don’t travel to Minneapolis often but this is a good place to grab a bite.Visited April 2024Travelled soloWritten 9 April 2024
- Mark BSomerset, Pennsylvania57 contributionsA good mall overallWas very excited to see rides in a indoor mall, I'm in my early 60s still love the thrills. Shopping not bad some stores I grew up with and was still a great place to go to. This place is big have your good walking shoes on.I'm sure before covid there were more stores but can only imagine the cost of doing business here.Visited July 2023Travelled on businessWritten 12 April 2024
- Adrianna F73 contributionsPrepare to spend a whole day hereThis place was so much fun! I completed over 15,000 steps the day I went from riding the rides to shopping and eating it was an action packed day. I recommend the 4 bundle wrist band from the site. It gave us enough activities to keep us entertained all day. The park and mall was clean. Food court was delicious, had some amazing tacos and other snacks. I went on Friday and it was very empty. I walked on to all the rides with no wait. No long lines in the stores. The workers actually seemed pretty bored with how empty it was. I also went again in a Sunday and it was a little more packed but still not bad.Visited May 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 5 May 2024

I used to come here all the time when I lived in Minneapolis, and I came now back for the first time for more than 5 years and I fell that the stores were not as nice as before.
I went there first on a Friday late afternoon and evening, and my second visit was on a Monday afternoon/evening. It was a much better visit on a Monday afternoon/evening than on a Friday afternoon/evening, but there are so many other malls I will recommend than Mall of America these days.

Had read that mobility scooters were available at each guest services desk at each of the main entrances. Drove 2 1/2 hrs, spent $$$ for hotel next to MOA, for fun day planned for my soon to start college kiddo & a friend. Visited Tues around 11:30 a.m. Went in south entrance & desk was closed for the day; called guest services and rep suggested I go to another entrance. Very frustrating as obviously I have trouble with mobility or I would not be wanting to rent a scooter. Moved my car to anther parking site adjacent to east entrance, called guest services to assure there would be a scooter available, and rep told me it would be fine (after putting me on hold to check) saying that "someone could get one from the basement" for me as there were none at the desk at the moment. I went in and there were two people working, they said they had no scooters there and told me I could go to the north or west entrance. At no time did anyone on the phone or in person offer to radio elsewhere for a scooter or to go get one for me; this mall is HUGE and it costs $40 to rent the scooter. If it were easy for me to hop from entrance to entrance, I would not be needed a scooter. Left completely disgusted and killed time elsewhere while my guests were in the mall. First and last time I will go to MOA.

I gave this mall a 4 star because I’d never been here and it was an experience. Many stores mainly food items/stores I was not aware were here and happy to visit like sugar factory and Carlo’s cake shop, as well as the attractions. If they weren’t so expensive for a family of 6 I’d have gone to all! Downside during Covid was that EVERY attraction had a long line to get into and most were “sold out” for the day or next two days. That was disappointing. We got in to Nickelodeon universe because we went at mall opening and got on a wait list. Got on at 11am and finally got in at 6pm. There were 206 ppl ahead of us. The aquarium was also sold out but we did go through the lines and found a ticket kiosk at entrance w tickets for later that evening though. The mall itself had a lot of repeat stores. (Different levels) but pricing was average. Also all floors and food court area were pretty filthy. Thankfully bathrooms were ok. Make sure you have reservations to dining and attractions at least 2 days before you come to this mall!!! Also they do close early at 7pm on weekdays. Some stores open later than 10am and close before 7pm. They did have lots of security but when a fight broke out at the mall exit after closing they were no where to be found. Took a while for them to come and by then the fight had moved to parking lots! Crazy and scary for my kids to see.

I loved shopping and eating at the mall. I was able to get so many great gifts for my family.
There was an Italian restaurant on the first floor that was so good I at there twice during the days that I wandered through the mall. The ravioli appetizer was great! I had it both times I ate there and when I got home I even imitated when I got home. It is a fo o rite when my family comes to eat.The theme park would be wonderful for people with children.

Awesome place. The rides are worth the wristbands, just come early in the morning and stay the whole day with the unlimited wristband. Rides are good for toddlers, kids, teens AND adults. Plan spending more than 3 or 4 hours shopping and seeing everything. M&Ms store is very pricy, so just avoid that.
Don’t forget to stop at the Fair on four go-karting, Nickelodeon Universe, and Sea-life during your stay. You may need several days on your vacation to explore most of the mall. Great wolf lodge is conveniently nearby if you have kids. 5/5! Would recommend.

Awesome time! We bought our all day ride wristbands at Costco for $50 for 2 bands. Lots of great rides for all ages. My older kids loved the Dutchmans rope course with the zipline. Only issue is in the off season the rides basically take turns on the hour. So you can show up at a ride just to find out it doesn't open for another half hour.

Nope. I wasn't feeling the hype of the Mall of America at all. I do not understand why this mall is even considered an attraction. That's just like saying the CF Eaton Centre in Toronto should be an attraction when it obviously isn't, because it's just a mall.
This place is a huge tourist trap. Most things sold here are more expensive than usual (no surprise, of course). A lot of the stores you find here can also be found in your local mall, such as Nordstrom, Foot Locker, Abercrombie, etc. True, there's stores, restaurants and attractions at MOA you can't find elsewhere such as FlyOver America (an AMAZING ride), a Microsoft store, the Twin City Grill, Minnesota-themed stores (mainly souvenir shops) and Nickelodeon Universe, but I didn't see this a good enough reason for me to absolutely fall in love with this place. In the end, a mall is a mall to me, and the "wow" factor of visiting here faded rather quickly.
The good news is that there is free WiFi and parking is free here. Something you won't always find in a place like Mall of America. There are also plenty of food options, even though some might be overpriced, and the washrooms are quite clean, modern and frequently sanitized.
If this is your first time to the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul, I'd say go ahead and visit this place, but only one time. There are many other great attractions the Twin Cities (and the state of Minnesota) offers such as the Guthrie Theatre, Stone Arch Bridge and nearby Minnehaha Falls that won't rip you off of your money as much as this place.

Had to see "Mall of America" after all the praises I heard about it. Took the train from downtown Minneapolis directly to "Mall of America." It's one of the largest malls in the world with lots of walking to do if you want to see it all. I especially liked the amusement park, how cool it is to enjoy a year round amusement park in a city like Minneapolis where winters can be long. IF you're looking for lots of attractions and terrific shopping all under one roof, visit "Mall of America." I love Minneapolis for its cultural stimulation and good eating spots, as well as the beautiful architecture. There's so much to see and do just in downtown Minneapolis alone but a trip to "Mall of America" should be on everyones list because this mall is bursting with excitement. Every shop you can imagine is here and the best part is no sales tax on clothes and shoes. An added bonus is having IKEA right next door.
Mall of America is a one of a kind mall full of thrills!

If you are worried about covid I would suggest not going to the mall. We stayed in an attached hotel for three nights and went to the mall each day. At least 50% of the people walking around either had their mask pulled down to their chin or had it pulled below their nose. Lots of Mall security walking around but it didn't seem like there was any enforcement over the mask policy. Some of the stores had lines because only so many people can be allowed in at one time. One clothing store we went to did not have their changing room open.

We visit here every time we come from Scotland to visit our friends who live nearby. It struck me that every time I’ve visited it feels quite different - shops come and go, decor and eating areas change, the numbers of people varies enormously, the lighting might seem different etc. This visit we noticed that Sears had disappeared and there were a few empty units. - a sign of the times we see everywhere these days. However there is plenty to see, marvel at and enjoy! We went to shop one day and to exercise another day as it was cold and snowy outdoors. We walked briskly round all three levels, going in to every nook and cranny and it took us 53 minutes! You will see lots of people doing this....

what is the average miles if walking all 3 levels, end to end of the MOA?
Written 21 October 2023
I personally do not know. but if you inquired at the Mall Welcome Center or Concierge, they might be able to tell you.
If you do this, do it during the day and leave anything valuable at home. There are security issues inside the parking structures and even in the mall.

What time do we have to have our vehicle moved if no overnight parking?
Written 25 August 2023
In the past, I parked there until after bar and theater closing time. Often I would drive up to the upper level to watch planes land and take off at MSP. But for safety it may be best to stay in a well lit area and leave when the crowds leave.

Has anyone bought a 2022 or 2023 coupon book?If it has an index I’m wondering if you could post a picture. I will only be there for a day but I’m doing all the touristy stuff and wondering if it’s worth it to buy
Written 22 January 2023
I'm sorry I don't have the current book to photograph. Most of the coupons are buy one get one or 10 - 20% off. It's only $5. You would probably save at least that much if you are doing any restaurants or activities like the SeaQuarium or Fly Over America. Some of the nearby hotels will actually give you the book free for staying there.

How are the lines to do the amusement park or shop due to COVID? Is it really crowded?
Written 19 July 2021
Mall was definitely crowded when we visited but it was a Saturday evening

Is the mall handicap accessible? My mom can walk some but I would more than likely have to bring a wheelchair. If they rented some out that would be great so we wouldn’t have to travel with it. Do they have wheelchair rentals?
Written 18 February 2020
Yes, I broke my leg and went there with a wheelchair. If you don't want to pay the fees for a wheelchair, it's super easy to just put your own wheelchair in your trunk and bring it along. I had mine and I parked close to the entrance and everything is pretty accessible to you in a wheelchair at MOA.
