About
Dedham Vale Vineyard is set in 40 acres of vines, woods and pasture on the edge of the Dedham Vale, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Sample the wines and wander through the vines as you enjoy this glorious part of North Essex. The vineyard is on the Essex Way with lovely walks through the surrounding countryside and quiet country lanes and villages of Constable Country. We host year round events and hire the grounds and tasting barn for weddings and events.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Rude, unhelpful and won’t be back. More interested in painting his fence than helping visitors. Won’t be returning.
Have gotten too big for their boots. Awful experience and would recommend going to other local wineries

I came here for a late christmas present. The tour was less tecchnical than I would have liked but we appreciated the opportunity to taste the grapes on the wine. The lunch was stingey to say the least1/4 of a saurage roll and atiny piece of ham through which the plate was visible. The wines as tasted, one during the tour were a fair white, a poor red,a classical sparkling white well up to the english high standard, and an exceptional prize winning white alas from another Essex vineyard

Following my contact with the venue they have today added a VERY IMPORTANT policy statement regarding any cancellation at the bottom of their Tours page.
With this policy in place, unless you can be 100% certain that you will not be ill on the day of your planned visit, I recommend that you think seriously about booking this venue.
If you are unfortunately ill and have to cancel on the day (or even within 5 days of your booked visit) then the cost for 2 for the tour will be £79 !
I consider to be very expensive for a tour with lunch.
To safeguard your first booking and keep the cost down I recommend you have people on standby who can attend in your place.
The one * solely relates to the honest e-mail the company sent as confirmation of my booking PRIOR to the addition of the policy on their website.
NOTE: After paying £15 per person to re-book DO NOT FALL ILL on the re-booked date because it has been confirmed, by e-mail, that another £15 per head (£30 for 2) will be charged.

Wow! Came back from my Christmas gift of a wine tour with lunch today. Was totally amazing! Julie was our very engaging and very knowledgeable tour guide. We went around the vineyard- picked leaves, tasted grapes, learnt the science of winemaking then went for a tasting session and a fantastic lunch with the opportunity to buy and drink more wine. I cannot recommend this highly enough. I’ve lived in Colchester for nearly 30 years and this gem has been hidden fir too long! Will definitely return!

This is a family run vineyard in a lovely setting. Many thanks to Hugo, Stacey and their two staff for all their hard work. We tasted 5 wines and all of our party of 12 found at least one that liked enough to purchase. The tour was interesting and once Hugo got into his stride he was informative and entertaining. They will be harvesting soon and are looking for people to help - so if you are free...

My wife was given a wine tasting voucher, so selected Dedham Vale. Nice place in the middle of the country side
Made very welcome by Hugo who conducted the tour. A very knowledgable host who is totally passionate about his trade. Very interesting tour of the vineyards and plenty of detail on the year in a vineyard. Very hard work. Then followed the wine tasting and lunch. Despite the old reputation of English wines these were very good. Lunch was also good. Our thanks to Hugo and his team for a very enjoyable afternoon. Will be back again soon.

We attended a wine tour/tasting with lunch and had a thoroughly lovely time. The vineyard is in a beautiful setting and the staff are all very friendly and attentive. Tony was very knowledgable and made the tour not only interesting but entertaining also. The buffet lunch was delicious, as was the cake for dessert.
We got the opportunity to sample 5 different wines all of which were delicious and went away having purchased a bottle of each to take home to Hampshire with us. Many thanks to all at Dedham Vale Vineyard

We decided to celebrate a birthday and belated first Father’s Day at Dedham Vale Vineyard as we wanted to experience local English wine. We were not disappointed. Hugo was an excellent point of contact before we arrived and greeted us on the day. He complimented Tony, our tour guide superbly!
The vines are stunning!! The scenery is breath taking!!
We paid £25 for a wine tasting tour and buffet lunch which was excellent value for money.
We then enjoyed a bottle (or two!!) of the sparkling wine next to the lake!
The two waitresses were attentive and a pleasure to speak to about the products.
This is a wonderful experience, gorgeous wedding venue or day out!

We haven't booked a tour but can we just turn up to walk around the vineyards and have some lunch and wine tasting?? Or it purely to book through the tours??
Kelly.
