The wooden boardwalk is slightly elevated so you can usually keep your feet dry. Running parallel is the paved road for biking and using the 4-wheel pedal rentals (available in summer). The walk runs from the canal all the way up the lake shore past Fitgers. Beauty of a city walk.

It was unusually warm in February and we took advantage of this great walking path. It is well marked and has many places to sit and look at the beautiful lake. There are some war memorials along the way to look at as well. Very easy walk for anyone of any ability.

I went on a date with my girlfriend of 4 years and this was truly the best place to bring her. We went on a walk and there are plenty of places along the way to stop and admire the lake along with watch people jump of the "ice house"

A lovely walk that stretches 6 miles along the shores of Lake Superior. We walked from the Maritime Museum right thru to Glensheen, a fantastic historic mansion dating back to 1909 a distance of about 5 miles. Well worth dropping into Fitgers on the way for coffee, a beer or boutique shopping. Meals at the brewery are really nice with... More

I love Duluth. The lake walk is awesome to do. Take time to smell the roses at the beautiful rose garden. It's kind of a long walk from Canal Park and back but definitely worth it!

While the teenagers were swimming I took a nice long walk and enjoyed the serenity of it all! What a treasure!

The lake walk is one of the most enjoyable attractions in Duluth. The boardwalk has been damaged more than once by the furious waves that come up during storms on Lake Superior, but it has always been repaired in a timely manner. There is a separate path next to the board walk for bikes, skaters etc. Not sure I'd recommend... More

It's always heartwarming to discover that a town had so much forethought to secure their most valuable asset from development and destruction. And that's what you'll see from every vantage point on the Lakewalk.

You can turn this into a several mile walk if you are so inclined. Starting North at the LE Park, you go south along the railroad tracks pass Fitgers(which is a great place to stop for a drink outdoors) to park point and the aerial Lift bridge and Park Point where you can see the ships entering and leaving port....
