You want to be here in the fall with all the colors on the trees and as the hawks make their way down from the North and avoid flying over Lake Superior. If you did not bring your binoulcars somebody will let you take a quick peek with theirs.

Today was my first visit to Hawk Ridge. We found stunning views of Lake Superior and the city below. The area that you park to the platform viewing area where most of the visitors are waiting for birds is right off the side of the road, so if you aren't a hiker or have limited mobility you won't have an... We were driving the skyline and enjoying the view when we happened upon all these people, so we stopped. We were immediately met by a lady involved in the bird watching. Very knowledgeable. They were watching hawks and were very excited about it. I see these birds all the time where we live, so it was not anything special to... More

This is a fabulous stop for and person, avid or beginner, who loves birds. Netting and banding good big on and an excellent naturalist on duty to inform.

Loved that they had a bird-guide there to tell us what we seeing. It was sunny, we saw ravens and raptors. The lake was there, you could hike. Next time I'll take a chair and a picnic and stay the day. Free parking. Bring binos.

Here for work and stayed for the weekend, found that Hawk Ridge was having an event-filled weekend with guided bird-watching hikes, naturalists, banding, and more. Very friendly and helpful volunteers available to talk with.

There is viewing platform with interpreters on the skyline parkway in Duluth which is a pleasant stop on this lovely drive. The interpreters are very friendly and helpful and can tell you about the birds and help you spot them.

You do not have to know a bunch to be comfortable here during the great Hawk Migration Season, as there are paid professionals and volunteers ready and waiting to tell you whatever you want to know about hawks. A very neat place with a fabulous view of Lake Superior...
