I've lived in the area my whole life and this drive never gets old. It can be divided up for many lengths of time. Take a day trip, take a weekend, take a week, or more and you can fill every day with things to do and see. The only key is your appreciation for the outdoors. It is all... More

Always a nice ride along the shore. Shops are usually closed this time of year. Winter but in the summer it is a MOST drive.

We absolutely love the North Shore. Aways amazed at the beauty and many places to stop along the way for pictures. Great family advent!

Forget the state parks and lighthouse tourist trap, make sure to stop off at one of the many roadside parking lots and do some hiking for free. We went during early October and the state parks were too full to park and there was a tourbus at the lighthouse plus a hefty price for admission. We opted to stop at... More

This lakeside park is a great place to have a break, or picnic. Depending on weather conditions you may either enjoy a warm enjoyable stay or be driven to find shelter from nature's fury! The family always enjoys watching the ships passing by and trying to fill the lake with rocks. The area provides many photo opportunities too!

The beauty of the North Shore in October is really quite a treat for anyone who enjoys the natural beauty of fall. If you are looking for nice lodging you may want to make this a day trip. Must see would include the Palisade, Gooseberry falls state park, and the split rock lighthouse.

Love getting out of the city for a drive to the North Shore. Perfect for an inexpensive mini holiday. Waterfalls around every corner, wild life, plenty of areas to hike. Great for families, couples, solo runs. Also great for those of us who like chasing the northern lights :)

We didn't venture too far north from Duluth, but the scenery was grand. Stopped at the first park area to just walk on the rocks and peer across the lake. We were able to see the ship we had watched leave Duluth. My 9-year old was thrilled to fish Lake Superior. Unfortunately, it was windy and cool, but had the... More
