I hadn't been to an open pit mine since I was very young. Very worthwhile stop. The folks manning the store were very knowledgeable. They have nice trinkets for sale. Free will offering if you choose.

The visitor center was open on Sunday, so that was a surprise. Lots of opportunities for pictures here. Very cool for city kids! Oh, and leashed pets are welcome!

Very interesting view of above ground mining & it was free. Great for a quick stop. People were very friendly.

This is a must see for sure. At this point they are moving this site to another spot in 2018 to expand the mine. The store closes at 5 and they mean it.
