What a great chance to see the restored Betsy-Tacy houses in Mankato. Mankato was the real name for Deep Valley. Our guide was wonderful, had so much to tell us about the houses. A must for Maud Hart Loveless fans but of interest to anyone interested in the late 1800's.

As a fan of the Betsy-Tacy books, I was excited to visit the houses where the author and her best friend grew up. They have been beautifully and lovingly restored to show life in the early 1900s. The guided tour was only $5, and the gift shop had an excellent selection! I will visit again!…

The detail and time spent by tour guide Ann was amazing and the houses were amazing. She related numerous details tying them to stories in the books. Her attention also to other historical details were fascinating.

The tour guides are outstanding in their storytelling and knowledge of historical facts. they are especially good with children but any age person will enjoy this little piece of Mankato, MN history.

Even if you aren't a fan of the children's books you will be impressed by the period furniture and the history of the home. I had seen the home once before and enjoyed seeing it again.
