This Biking/running/walking trail runs thru a neighborhood and into the wooded area in west Mankato. Gorgeous with wild flowers. Glimpses of deer, birds, and other wildlife along the way. Pretty and well maintained.Trail goes all the way to Rapidan, total close to 12 miles. Recommended with years of experience on this scenic trail. Bring some water along as well.

We parked and began riding by the depot in Downtown Mankato. After riding along the MN River and traversing south by the YMCA and Mankato West High School, we hooked up with the R.J.T. It is well marked and initially goes through a residential neighborhood before heading into woods by Rasmussen Park. We had to be vigilant about avoiding sticks... More

This trail start in residential Mankato but nicely designed and soon gets you into the countryside. I was impressed by the wooded route further south. It was also handy to be able to stay on bike trails all the way back to the Sakatah trail.

We drove to Mankato and this trail just to do some biking. The paved part of Red Jacket Trail is pretty flat. Once you hit the roads it has some hills. There were some markers along the way letting us know which way to go which was wonderful. However, I didn't see that after leaving Lake Crystal. I wanted to... More

The ride goes across the historic Red Jacket Bridge...partially in the woods and behind homes in West Mankato

What would the Mankato area be like without the Red Jacket Trail? A little over six miles mostly on an old railroad bed and across an historic trestle. Most of those who enjoy it today don't realize that it took countless hours of volunteer effort and a county government that was willing to take bold steps to make this lovely... More

We parked at Mankato West High School by the trail, and leisurely rode for 50 minutes south. The river crossing was beautiful, be sure to take the trestle route. Slightly uphill some of the time, as another reviewer wrote. We are not avid bikers, just casual bikers. We didn't go quite as far as Rapidan, but turned around and made... More

We biked from the Land of Memories campground to pick up the trail and then biked to Rapidan. This was the first long ride of the season. The trail is mostly wooded with great shade and a bubbling brook. Rapidan does not offer any amenities so bring your own water and snacks! On the way back to Mankato we took... More

This trail is several miles long. I stay on the 2 miles immediately south of the YMCA. Right now, the lilacs are blooming and the phlox is soon to be. About a mile south of the "Y" the trail intersects with the Rasmussen Woods Trail. The only reason I don't give this trail a "5" is occasionally some dog owners... More
