We walked around the lake a few times to catch up after the day. A peaceful and quiet location to accomplish this.

Not only paintings, but fun pieces grab at your artistic interpretation. Generally held the 2nd weekend in August this Annual Art fest is visited by hundreds of people. The items are unique & well priced. You can view all the artwork at a leisure pace in an hour. This event also has satellites, food & drink in this well groomed park. Art pieces for your lawn, your flower pots, & other ingenious items are quite surprising. Little kids love to play in the tiny tot playground area. If you go, note that some of the trees in this park are impressively old & lovely.…

I enjoy this place immensely, but I contribute regularly to the Theater Arts Program here. For many years, I've collaborated on shows and enjoy seeing my work come to life in one of the impromptu outdoor performance spaces. There are a lot of programs for people and it's a lively, active place.…

Considering this is an inner city neighborhood park, you might not expect to see a small lake with an island teeming with wildlife, including blue herons & egrets...but, wildlife finds refuge in this park. Oftentimes, there are community plays put on in the Community Recreational building by the neighborhood children, supervised by a neighborhood theater instructor, playwright, actress & director. You might enjoy watching a game played out in the sports field. Prefer to play (versus watching) sports? There's a tennis court, basketball courts inside as well as outdoors & a horseshoe court. In the winter, there are some great sledding hills & skating rink set up on the pond. There are picnic tables overlooking the pond, several playgrounds around for kids to enjoy swinging, sliding & climbing and a wading pool by the Community/Recreation building. Happen to be in the neighborhood on the first Sunday in May? Enjoy the Mayday Parade, ending in the park with festivities including performances on the outdoor stage and food/beverages available for your enjoyment. In beginning of August, there's an art fair that goes on all weekend. All kinds of great artists to check out and support. Also, a variety of food & beverage vendors are there. A block east of the park, there is a cafe open all year 'round. A few blocks in each direction from the park, there are a variety of places to find to enjoy good food, some of which are ethnically inspired. Definitely, a great inner city neighborhood park to check out!…
