I would love to stroll around on my bicycle, because it's so large. It's a beautiful cemetery to visit. Surprisingly a lot to see. Right next to Lake Calhoun too, so very convenient for a side trip.

Just loved this place. GREAT memorial services in honor of military. Has lots of events that you can come with family to visit loved ones. Very quiet...can't hear the city noise once in park away from the hubbub of the buildings. Gorgeous architecture and history. They take great care of he grounds. Tours are offered; lots of walking, but very... More

I have been to a number of funerals there but this summer I went to a lamp lighting ceremony they held. It was father into the hills where the older plots are. I have been to SleepY Hallow in NCY and this is more beautiful. The ceremony was gorgeous at night. If you want to pay respect to a lost... More

Lakewood is my 'home' cemetery, my parents a buried here, and I return from time to time to reflect. Lakewood also has an outstanding chapel, lovely plantings a sense of calm. On Memorial Day weekend many people decorate the graves of their loved ones with cut flowers. A slow and respectful drive through Lakewood on that weekend moves me every... More

If cemeteries fascinate you like they do me, then treat yourself to a visit to Lakewood Cemetery. I grew up in Richfield and recently went back for a high school reunion. I decided to visit Lakewood to find a childhood friend entombed there. I spent a long time driving around - the place is huge! and it was time well... More

Lakewood Cemetery is one of the finest parks in the twin cities and offers many opportunities for visitors to admire the plants, landscaping, statues, and structures to memorialize the founders, politicians, business moguls, celebrities, and sports legends of the twin cities. The Memorial Chapel is awe-inspiring (the interior is 10 million pieces of hand-laid Italian mosaic tile) and open for... More

Gorgeous cemetary even if you are not visiting to find relatives. They have a very serene section that has a reflective pool with modern buildings next to it that are very architectural to walk through just for their own sake and photographers were doing a session while we were visiting. The staff at the main office was very helpful in... More

Lakewood is a treasure within the city limits by Lake Calhoun. If you have an afternoon to spend just walking around the beautiful memorials, you will likely find many famous people are laid there to rest. The Chapel is spectacular and a must see if you do go to Lakewood.
