My best friend and I went hiking through Nerstrand Big Woods on a lovely October Monday. It was a perfect place for talking while getting lots of steps on leaf-filled trails. It was an enjoyable and easy hike around the looping trails. I did find the signs they put up by the trails a bit challenging to read. The first... More

Make plans to visit this park next spring to view the flowers! Nerstrand Woods is one of the best places to view these beautiful flowers in abundance! The forest floor is literally white with blooms!

This park packs a lot into a modest sized package. The scenery is beautiful. I can't wait to see it with the Fall colors. The trails are user friendly to most anybody that is modestly physically fit and stable. I wouldn't recommend wheel chairs or scooters due to the mud and the trails aren't completely level. There are two areas... More

We love this state park. We live close but visit often as for the park changes daily with the seasons. Great family gathering site whether you want to hike or just relax with a BBQ

The falls is a small hike and back if you don't have a lot of time. If you like there are longer hikes and plenty of options for camping as well. Or you can just go for a day picnic and enjoy the old shade trees .The flowers vary by the time of year, but always something to see.

We are avid campers at MN state parks, so having seen a few, I feel like I can offer a decent bit of insight. First, as the title indicates, the park itself is a forest oasis in farm country. The trails are in good shape, if a bit muddy in spots (even when it hasn't rained for a week or... More

Love the hikes and waterfall. We'll be back for more hiking and possible camping. One of the trails was muddy and hard to navigate due to rain. They also have a picnic shelter & sand volleyball. The park staff were helpful.

We stayed at the campground for two nights. Our site had electric and water. The restrooms were clean and modern. The Rangers patrolled the park regularly.

This is a fabulous MN State Park. The winding trails through the tall trees are beautiful! Very nice campground and very friendly staff!! The only reason this review is not a 5 is because of the tight quarters in the campground; sites are somewhat close with minimal seclusion and it was a tight fit getting into our site and making... If you're looking for a great place to camp or have a picnic this is a spot to try. They call it the big woods because that's what it is. They have many trails you can walk and enjoy the scenery.
