The Douglas State Trail is a 12.5 mile paved trail that runs from northern Rochester to Pine Island, Minnesota. The trail was built on an old rail bed and is a flat and easy biking trail. This trail goes through the small town of Douglas and the trail gets its name from this place. There is also an unpaved horse... More

This trail is perfect for bikes, but as an inline skater, be cautious. As you head north on the trail to Douglas from Rochester there are about 3 GRAVEL roads you need to cross ! Other than that, it's good trail for skating on and beautiful farm and country scenery. Very pleasant. As for biking, it's clear and easy to... More

This is an old railroad path converted to a walking, jogging and biking path. It is flat and somewhat sheltered so the wind is not as much of a factor. It goes for several miles and is scenic.

On 8/15/16, we started north on the Douglas State Trail from the Rochester trail head. At about six miles, we encountered a bike path resurfacing project. So we turned back. This unexpected obstacle motivated us to explore the Rochester Bike System. It was a good decision. We met our mileage goal and got to see parts of Rochester we would... More

I love biking on this wooded trail from Rochester to Douglas; and to Pine Island for a longer ride. The trail is paved and well maintained.

Bicyclist love the miles of trails in and around Rochester, MN. They were developed on the dikes created to prevent flooding. Following the trails takes a person through many beautiful, treelined areas, and along creeks and rivers. Just be sure to wear your helmets at all times.

This trail is near my house, so spend a lot of time riding the trail. I ride my road bike and my son rides his street bike and sometimes his mountain bike on the nature trail. Quite a few roads to cross, but all are well marked and have very little car traffic. You can get off the trail and... More

I'm so glad we brought our bikes. This path is PERFECT for riding and running. It's long and straight and only crosses over a couple of roads.
