If you want to see the beautiful mansions in which the malignant narcissists of St. Paul reside, take a long walk down Summit Avenue. You'll end up at a Cathedral, where you can splash holy water on your face and catch an express bus back to Minneapolis.

I currently attend the Mitchell-Hamline School of Law on Summit Avenue. I take walks on Summit or Grand Avenues (parallel to Summit only one block South) almost daily. Summit is beautiful all of the way from the Catholic Cathedral where it begins to the end at East Mississippi Boulevard. The homes from the Cathedral to about half way to the... More

Summit Avenue is a must see place while staying in St. Paul. The large gorgeous homes are worth the view. They are older homes but kept up and magnificent. Anytime I have visitors I make sure to take them up to Summit Avenue and show them the wonderful views. Everyone taken loves it.

I love walking up Summit Ave. Beautiful area close to St. Thomas all the way down to the Cathedral. I like the area closer to the Cathedral. Houses are older and architecture is awesome.

Summit Avenue can be biked, used for marathons, etc. But this scenic roadway is best traveled by carriage, or perhaps a touring car. Start slow at the Cathedral of Saint Paul -- that magnificent edifice. And then proceed past the homes of the Empire Builder, the Lumber Baron and the University Club ( favorite of Scott Fitzgerald). For miles, the... More

I had read an article in a magazine about the beautiful homes on Summit Avenue and we had to take a quick drive just to check it out. It is very impressive and well worth driving through if you have the time. I'm sure it's even better in the summer, when you can park and walk the street.

Summit Ave goes from the Mississippi River near St. Thomas University to the Cathedral. It features many stately houses, including the Governor's Mansion and The John J. Hill Mansion. It is especially lovely to drive in the dark during the holidays and on Christmas Eve many homeowners line their walks with luminarias.

I think everyone at sometime in their life who lives in Saint Paul has walked down Summit Ave, if anything it was the street your kids begged you to take them down on Halloween because all the homes gave you a full sized candy bar...lol It is also a beautiful street with homes so gorgeous you just know you can't... In full disclosure, I grew up as a teenager in a house on Summit, which makes me long for the good old days as its a GREAT street for jogging, bicycling, walking, etc. Summit is an old style grand boulevard that has been maintained for over a century. When I am in town, I find any reason I can to... More
