Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have visited this Court House since childhood. The building was totally restored a few years back. The restoration was extensive and put in place things that were left out of the original design. Woods from around the world. The memorial for fallen St.Paul soldiers is very moving. You can call to have a tour set up in advance. I would highly recommend a call. I now take out of town guests here, they are always amazed. A gem and proud part of St. Paul.

If there is ever any upside to an economic depression, this is it. The building was started during the Great Depression era and is an Art Deco masterpiece. It drew its inspiration from the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes, which promoted soft ornamentation and sensuous curves. As a result of the Great Depression, the building came in way under budget and the quality was much higher than ever could have been imagined.
After you go through very thorough security, stop at the information desk on the main floor. Ask for the guides to the building and either sign up for a tour or take a tour by yourself. The guided tours are free.
Of course, you will first be blown away by the exquisite, 60-ton white onyz Indian God of Peace (now called Vision of Peace) in the main lobby. It's fun to study and watch it slowly move. If you have the time, and are so inclined, you could take your guide and visit all the court room floors. Each floor has different marble and over 23 species of exotic wood on the walls and ceiling throughout the building. Their beauty is remarkable.
Be sure to visit some of the active court rooms and listen to justice being served. You will not see any of the accused in the hallways or elevators because they have a separate elevator system that takes them to the court.
Names of all the soldiers killed in battle are engraved in the lower floors.
Stop in and say hello to the mayor! Or, visit the City Council on the 3rd floor.
Visit the lower floor for sister city displays and more history.
When you're done take the Skyway to the Saint Paul Hotel and enjoy a great meal at the M Street Cafe.

City Hall......the coming and going to "Who's WHO" is the cities. Beautiful architecture, a great tribute to the state of Minnesota. My Grandfather designed the print for the elevators.

Even though there are security checkpoints as you enter this classic Court House, the inconvenience is worth the wait. The 3 - story statue in the main hall is breathtaking. This beautiful piece of sculpture is made of onyx and hand carved. Be sure to read the description of it explaining the meaning behind it.

A must see if you like the decadent modern styles of the 1920's and 30's. The main lobby is rich is brass, gold leaf and black onyx. The statue is NOT to be missed.

For anyone interested in Art Deco architecture and design, the St. Paul City Hall is a must-see. I actually stopped in my tracks the first time I saw it.
Sleek metallic Art Deco lettering inlaid into the sidewalk proclaims "Kellogg Street". A WPA-era stone frieze honoring working people hangs above the street entrance. A soaring steel-and-glass Art Deco facade welcomes you on the River side, flanked by with two more masonry friezes ("Justice" & "Agriculture", I think.)
Signs at the entrance are in English, Spanish and - I believe - Hmong, in recognition of the large Hmong community who now call St. Paul home. The lobby is an amazing example of Art Deco's "zig-zag" style. A towering onyx statue - "The Vision of Peace" - looms over the polished floors; you really need several minutes to take it all in. All of the City Hall & County Courthouse staff we chatted with were extremely gracious.
When we visited, the old bridge on which the building stands was being demolished as part of a redevelopment project. The views of the Mississippi River from the plaza outside of City Hall will be even nicer when the project is done.
Municipal halls should be places where people feel inspired by their democracy and welcomed by their government. The St. Paul City Hall is such a place. Visit it if you can.

The onyx 'Indian God of Peace' is worth the hassle of parking and going through security.....it is a courthouse. Interesting historic building, art deco look. Then exit the building to the south and walk over Kellogg to view the river from the Wabash Bridge.

Come here from time to time but the huge marble statute. You have to wait in a security line for a few minute but it is SO worth it. The statue is incredible.
