Inside the depot there's lots of Wayzata History about the Rail Road, also the train runs several times a day along the lake front. Outdoor miniature train exhibit and summer music makes this a Lake Minnetonka favorite.

Great place to start or end a bike ride going either east or west on the trails. Ample parking for bike clubs.

The Wayzata Depot is a nice place to stop in and check out while in Wayzata. The large-gauge train runs in the summer season, as well, and kids always enjoy that.

A must for train enthusiasts. The small museum has some neat local history (and a working coke machine with glass bottles!) and a nice garden but the highlight is the large model train town outside which the local club maintains. On certain days the trains are running and you can talk to the enthusiasts.

A great time to have and enjoy the history. Also there is a beach close by that is tons of fun. Around of places and eat and browse close by.

if you are walking the cute lakefront town of Wayzata, be sure to stop in at the Depot. On weekends there is a train running in a miniature village and kids love watching it!

A nice quiet and rustic station to visit. Rotary dial phone, old fashion Coke - bottle dispensing machine, switch board and the warm greetings from the dedicated attendants. Model train yard just outside the building – workman ship – impeccable with the details. Be sure to make a donation.

This building is not very big, but according to my Mom, really does look like a rural railway station. Staff was very friendly and knew their stuff. Good place to bring small kids.

This is a great place to take you kids, both big and small, youn and old, to see the wonderful model train exhibit. I believe they only run the trains on Saturday and Sunday, but I am not 100% sure of this. The trains are very realistic, and the signs on the model buildings always produce a chuckle.

The old Wayzata Depot was built on it's current spot in 1906. It sits in a really pretty spot on Wayzata Bay on the shores of Lake Minnetonka. The museum inside is nice as is the Station Master. A nice place to lounge on a warm summer afternoon with a beach within walking distance for a different kind of fun.... More
