Badagry as the 'door of civilization of Nigeria' has lots of historical buildings of interest now converted into tourist attractions. such as, 1) DISTRICT OFFICER’S RESIDENCE. Constructed in 1870. 2) BADAGRY HERITAGE MUSEUM. Former District Officer’s Office built in 1863. Converted into museum in 2002 and contains slave trade history collections. 3) FIRST STOREY BUILDING IN NIGERIA; Anglican Missionary House built in1845. 4) TOPO ISLAND CATHOLIC MISSION RUINS. Established in the 1870s. 5) SERIKI ABASS SLAVE BARACOON; Slaves cell built by Brazilian slave merchants in 1840. 6) ST. THOMAS’ ANGLICAN PRIMARY SCHOOL; First Primary School in Nigeria. Founded In 1843. and lots more

The Preservation of this house by the management is worthy of praise. The building is European styled and it is educational to visit the place and learn about missionary works from there to the hinterland. The missionaries who built the house also helped to stop...More

This is apparently the first storey building in Nigeria. The story behind this place is kind of interesting, it is well maintained, but there's nothing much to see. I'm happy I visited it, but it was nothing special.More

Well that's what it is called, though it seems there are facts to show that this building was built much later than a lot of storey buildings in Nigeria, but the name has stuck!! Interesting place to visit..stone even go there to pray and drink...More

Well, it may be true that some storey buildings especially in the northern part of the country have been in existence before this, but not the ones built in European architectural designs and with bricks, nails, inches and iron roofing sheets which we call building...More

the first Storey building in Nigeria located at Badagry, Lagos is a great place to visit, you will get to see the office of the first missionaries to Nigeria and also picture of the first teacher in Nigeria and his room where he was living...More
