Enjoyed the ferry ride, even though I think it was more like a 65 minute ride versus a 50 minute ride. Enjoyed the beach, but not sure I would do it in the real heat of the summer! I could see it could get extremely warm walking to the beach/swim area, so if you go in the heat of the... More

If you don't have a boat or a friend with one the Ship Island Ferry is your only way. Great to walk in solitude around a natural Island, or soak up some History in the fort, nice tours offered.

When you visit us in south Mississippi, to get a sense of why we live here, you must visit SHIP ISLAND. A tour boat leaves from GULFPORT harbor to Ship Island. During your boat ride keep an eye out for dolphins cruising along side. The island is one of our natural "barrier" islands along the coast. The south beach has... More

Hello everyone. I'm from Texas and we have mosquitos...but these are HUGE and disrespectful...lol On the way walking to the beach, halfway there they are like bats...lol they swamp you so I would just say spray yourself once you get off the boat. Much better. The beach is nice & quiet. Please rent you a chair & umbrella while buying... More

The ride over was very nice. I love being out on boats, and I hadn't been out in a while. You can stand at the front of the boat and watch the water go by. We saw a lot of dolphins playing, and on the way back got a lovely show of seagulls swooping and catching food, then getting chased... More

Season for 2016 was March 19th through October 30th. We went to Ship Island October 26. The season ends at the end of this month, so there were not very many people which was perfect for us. If you plan to go during the summer months, you might want to go during the week for less crowds. Be sure to... More
