Free couple hours of sight seeing
Lots of things for kids to look at and interact with. Volunteers and corps rangers were very nice. Look outs of the lake were beautiful. Make sure to ask about the junior ranger program for kids- so fun! Free!!!

    Wonderful Views
We arrived about an hour after the visitor center closed so there was literally no people there but us which was kinda nice. We didn't look up anything to do by the dam beforehand, so we didn't know that the visitor center would be closed but that didn't bother us. We were able to look at the top and the bottom, and it truly is an amazing site from both perspectives. While we were there, we didn't see anything that you could do except walk around so we don't know if we were just too late for everything or if we were somehow in the wrong area.

Beautiful view and nice calm walk for the family
We visited the dam and park which was extremely beautiful. We even saw the steamboat sailing across the lake so that was a plus. Overall definitely a nice place to re-center the family after so much sightseeing. Disclaimer: The USACE visitor center for the dam is closed for the season until March. Parking is still open and the area is still worth visiting.

Best part -it’s free!! It has an amazing lookout if the area. And it’s nice to learn about the area and the dam. There’s a 20minute video every half hour that gives the history and very interesting!

Modern multi-story visitors center has a lot of great education exhibits and views of the lake. Exhibits focus on water safety and the natural and anthropological history of the area. Adults and our teen enjoyed, lots to do. Don't forget to ask about the Junior Ranger workbook and badge!

We were driving into Branson and want to see a scenic area and found the Table Rock Dam and Dewey Short Visiting Center next to the Dam to be a very educational place. There is a three story observation building with loads of information on all aspects of the dam construction and its function for the neighboring towns.

After hiking along the trails, we stopped at the visitor's center. The view of the dam and the history of its construction is available at the visitor's center, provided by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The presentation is excellent with photos an graphs, including wildlife and other interesting facts about the area.

Very easy to find and drive over the dam. Very large. Easy to see both sides of the dam. The fishery is at the lower side. Worth a drive.

I have been visiting Branson for 57 years. First with my parents as a child and young adult, then on my honeymoon, after that with my own family, and now repeated visits as a retiree. Many changes have happened over the years, but the core of Branson remains. We love Silver Dollar City. It is an amusement park like no other. My husband takes carving classes at Engler’s Woodcarving shop in downtown Branson. It’s fun to look in the shops in old downtown and hit the Landing for new shops and a look at Lake Taneycomo. We camp and love Musicland Kampground and Silver Dollar City Campground. We like to walk the Lakeshore Trail at Dewey Short Visitor Center and at Lakeside Forest as well. Dolly’s Stampede is a favorite of ours. Clay Cooper’s show was great. The Branson Belle offers a 3-fer…a boat ride on the lake, a show, and a meal. Head to Sweet Susie’s Frozen treats. It’s off the main drag, but owned by a sweet family and right across from one of our favorite mini golf courses, Pirate’s Cove Adventure. We have also played mini golf at Lost Treasure on 76 and it was fun. Be sure to visit Billy Gail’s Restaurant for the hugest pancakes you’ve ever seen and stop by Billy Bob’s Dairy Land for good diner burgers and fried pies. We hear awesome things about Big Cedar Lodge and Dogwood Canyon as well as the Keeter Center at College of the Ozarks. There are lots of activities for a variety of interests and age levels. Will we be back??? You betcha! Maybe we’ll catch some new things next time.
