Another large dam
Oct 2017 • Couples
You can easily view this dam from the visitor center and down stream near the fishery. The visitor center is somewhat interactive. It is nice especially in a place where everything costs just to see. But, if you’ve seen other large dams you will not find anything special about visiting the dam.

Fun and educational!
Jun 2016 • Family
In a place where you have to pay big bucks for nearly every activity, this facility was a breath of fresh air. No, it wasn't earth-shattering, but it is a lovely building with interesting and educational things to do, and it's free! You can view the dam from three different levels, learn about the local animals including touching many different kinds of animal pelts, look around the small museum exhibits, and view a film that details the making of the dam and Table Rock Lake. Plus, just driving around the lake and across the dam is fun! You don't need to "Ride the Ducks" to see the area!

Tours used to exist.
Jun 2016 • Family
The front desk lady at the Dewey Short visitor center was absolutely not helpful when I asked about tours (she said there were no tours). I dug a little further and found that the tours used to be given through " Ride the Ducks" - I called them and they said they stopped giving dam tours 3 years ago due to terrorism concerns. How hard was that? You would think the conservation staff could provide that answer instead of making guest feel silly for asking questions.

There is no dam tour....
Mar 2016 • Family
I am a little confused as I see many reviews from members stating they toured the actual dam. I see comments where the tours ended and then started again. Per the employee that was on duty when we went there is not a tour of the dam. She said there never was and there are no plans for there to ever be one in the future. She went on to say that the dam was not built in a way to even accommodate tours. What is there is a very informative and interactive museum. Check out the Dewey Short Visitors Center for more reviews.

Free trip to go through the museum of the dam and many artifacts to see and you cam ask questions about the building of the dam and they have pictures on the wall on dam progress through building.

Table Rock Dam Tours

We stopped in to see about taking a tour and they no longer have them for security concerns;( That's the times we live in so we understand. We looked at the movie and the visitor center last time we were there and that was good too. The fish hatchery is close to the dam and we went there last visit too.

What Dam Tour?
Apr 2014 • Couples
In April 2014 there were no tours. We were told, due to some logistics issues they were suspended again. Check before planning to visit Branson.

Great Tour!
We really enjoyed this informative tour!

The guide was extremely knowledgeable and took us on a fascinating trip through the Table Rock Dam. The tour begins at the Dewey Short Center, and tour participants are taken by trolley to the dam.

Once inside the dam, visitors get to see many levels of the facility and learn a lot about the mechanics at work in generating hydroelectric power.

A dry description of the tour doesn't do it justice. It's engaging and full of interesting elements. We'd definitely do this again and recommend it to others.

Well worth your time!

The tours of the dam ended with 9/11 - fortunately due to volunteer groups and concerned citizens, with government permission and regulations they have been reinstituted. Tickets can be purchased at the Visitor Center at the dam. Tours are at 10, Noon, 2 and 4 and you must be there 30 minutes early. The Ride the Ducks Co provides old San Francisco trolley cars to take small groups from the visitor center to the restricted area of the dam. Children must be at least 7 I think and anyone with extreme claustrophobia or trouble walking is discouraged from trying the tour - the group MUST move together, if someone drops out, all in the group must leave together. I believe there were 150 steps altogether during the walk. That being said, it was a great tour with two knowledgable guides to shepherd us around and through the facility, answering most any question we could come up with. Best "dam" tour I've ever had and we travel a lot. No fee for the dam - but about 14.50 for the across-the-dam trolley ride to the entrance.

The video of the dam being built was wonderful, very informative, but not too long. Amazing View!! Great photo op. My 10 yr old really enjoyed it and even wanted to go back.
Was a perfect addition to our trip.
