Don't go expecting to look around
Jun 2020 • Couples
My husband and I stopped in here while vacationing in Hannibal. We couldn't even look around because the woman working tried to sell us EVERYTHING. From Museum tickets to an otter jewelry box. She started writing out a receipt for the combo pack of tickets and we had already told her we weren't interested! Way too pushy. Like i said, I couldn't even shop because she talked talked talked and no matter what i glanced at she would start talking. We finally got out of there.

Worth the time and money
Oct 2019
We went here as part of a combo with the trains and Kars so it was pretty inexpensive but fun. The gift shop is loaded with beautiful pieces as well as fun items. Since we were there in October there were so many Halloween items out. I enjoyed the wax museum and the 10 minute audio. There are 27 wax figures of the people connected with Mark Twain and each was described in the narrative. The haunted house was a little cheesy but that made it more fun. My 14 year old grandson made me go in front, I guess to 'protect' him.I jumped a couple times much to his great pleasure. He only jumped once. I'd go again.

Really dated. Worth it only because of the combo ticket
Aug 2019
We purchased a combo ticket that included this and a couple of other local museums. One of the other museums was definitely worth the ticket, so I didn't feel so bad about seeing this one.

It is two parts:
1) The wax museum has figures from Tom Sawyer. You look at them through glass and hear a story about the characters. Madame Tussaud's this isn't. They are ok, but looked really old and maybe age is taking its toll.
2) The haunted house was small and really cheap and cheesy. It was only worth it because it scared my adult daughter and made here scream. That was really funny.

If you get the combo ticket - stop in and have a laugh. I wouldn't pay to see just this.

A change of pace.

I'm not a haunted house fan - so difficult to rate. Since this was part of the combo package we purchased we went. The wax museum was ... ok.. All the figures were behind glass and your group went into the small room and listened while the tape talked about each one - It was difficult for me (adult to keep track of which they were talking about) as the narration was fast. Personally, I don't think younger kids would be interested in the talking - they might be interested in the wax figures for a few minutes. After the talking stops you walked into another small area narrow hall and very dark - older kids might enjoy if into that sort of thing.

Great gift shop and wax museum
Jul 2019
I liked the wax museum, some of the reviews were bad but come on, lets be real....wax museums are somewhat creepy, that's what makes it fun! The narration taking place while your're gazing through the window at the wax figures is great...tells a story of each of Mark Twains family members and his characters. The haunted portion is more for children to enjoy....however, I did scream twice! Only 10 bucks...and only takes about 15 minutes! I enjoyed it!

This place is a joke. The wax figures are awful and so is the so called haunted area. The best part is the gift shop.

Haunted House on Hill street is one of my favorite places to go. Its a not really scary haunted house and a very cool wax museum and gift shop. Kids of all ages would enjoy it . Its not very big or very expensive . You at least need to go once while you are there. I want to say it was $5 for adults and $3 for kids 5 and up .

" Fun, Scary, & Interesting "

We went to the Wax Museum & Haunted House in Hannibal, MO. They have a small shop with many different historical figures and dolls. Then you walk into the dark big window area, the lights come on and show 20+ wax people figures of all different kinds of people. You then listen to a person by person narration of the history of the figures you are looking at. You keep waiting for some figure to move. When the narration is over you then start to walk in total darkness down a small trail and along the way several real people dressed scary flash out at you scaring you to scream. It was fun and scary !

We bought this as a combo to see the car museum for $10/per person. The wax museum is one large room with about 20 figures. The explanation of the figures was well narrated. The spooky playhouse was a little goofy. It may scare younger children. Since we wanted to see the car museum this was a good value; otherwise, we would have been disappointed.

Finally got to see this attraction!

This place was closed last time we were in Hannibal, so it was one of the first places we hit when we were here again! All the wax figures were lumped together in one room, and the "haunted" part was just that: a small "haunted" area I think was a hallway with rooms partitioned off with displays. Yes, it was kind of small and cheesy, but we liked it! Shouldn't be too scary for little ones.
