Very good information. I went because of the Missouri State Park stamp. What a great thing as it informs you about the things you might never know. On the way to this sight a lot of deer and turkey were seen and the view from the grave is beautiful. The site itself needs a little more care and maybe they should enlist help from the neighbors

Lived on Dunklin Dr. For 22 years. Visited it when I walked. Beautiful view of the Mississippi River.

This FREE historic site interprets the role of Dunklin in Missouri's history, and provides a scenic overlook of the Mississippi River. Perched on a bluff above the "mighty Mississippi" River at Herculaneum, this grave provides a quiet place to reflect on Missouri, then and now. Gov. Dunklin sought to establish public schools on a firm and stable basis. In 1834, he recommended that a site for a state university be chosen and partially funded through the sale of land. Five years later, the University of Missouri became a reality. This state historic site is in a very peaceful and tranquil setting with ample benches for sitting and reflecting and handicapped accessible. Pack a picnic lunch to take along and enjoy the view and learn the history about this man.
