About
Mercado del Pueblo is the only Farmer's Market in Nayarit and the first in the Bahia de Banderas. We feature local, organic and natural consumable goods from the region. Recently, local artisans were also added. Every Friday, during the growing season from November-April,come enjoy the products of the area from vegetables and fruits to medicinal products and prepared artisan foods and handmade jewelry. Live music every Friday and street performers make it fun for all! All proceeds from the market go directly to support local projects like water and river clean up, providing biodegradable and natural cleaning supplies to the town and supporting our local children's parks and schools.

The market was small and about 5 or 10 blocks of more Porta Vallarta style. Crowds at Christmas vacation made traffic and beach a mass mob. The sewers appeared to empty onto the streams and onto the beach where surfing was top grade. Ubiquitous beach vendors were thick and polite. Giant pina colladas were huge and great. A half day here and then we were informed of smaller beach villages 10 and 20 minutes North for real Mexican cultures.

I was eager to visit Sayulita's Farmers Market to see how it differed with other markets. Besides the many Mexican arts/crafts, and food from the locals, there were many Canadians selling their own arts/crafts, and home cooking. Their jewelry were especially high quality, and some reasonably priced. It was interesting to see both cultures working together.

Sayulita is a great spot to visit took the local bus from bucerias for 14 peso and spent the day walking the market and drinking on the beach. More laid back than PV try the surf or paddle board

We visited Sayulita from Bucerías for the day and this time we came on a Friday to see the market. Nice little market selling a variety of Mexican items, homemade soaps, cheeses, breads, dips and fresh coffee. Quite a small market but nice to have a look around before walking into Sayulita as the markets is located at the start of the village near the bus station.
If you’re looking for an authentic homemade Mexican gift to take home then I’m sure you’d find it here.

I am in the minority group who did not find the Friday "Organic Market" or Gringo market that impressive. It is quite small and seems to be mostly ex-pats selling their wares. There is a bit of organic produce, baking, fresh pasta and fruit, plus some gluten free items. There are some crafts and clothing, coffee and some tasty ready-made foods you can eat at a small eating area. Maybe I was disappointed because I was expecting a big, traditional fresh fruit and vegetable plus souvenir market?

Thanks for visiting. Actually, 90% of our vendors are Mexican. We have 75 vendors in all and mostly cater to locals who buy their weekly groceries here. Most of our vendors are from local farms or make artisan foods or medicines. We only have about 20 vendors with crafts-
again, because we really cater to our local community not tourists. The large, campos Latin American markets are wonderful but do not really exist in the area. You can find them in DF and in countries south of Mexico. My favorite is Equador!

If you are in Sayulita be sure to check out this Farmer's Market. In addition to a wide array of fresh vegetables and fruits, you can also find salsas, spreads and coffees to sample. There are also artisans who sell everything from handmade clothing, sandals, jewelry, hammocks, oils, and candles to name a few of the products. it is best to go before 11:00 for the best selection of produce.

I am all for Farmers Markets and supporting local farms. This was more an overpriced craft fair with some food options and music going while all the Gringos got together to catch up with each other.
I've found that most farmers markets are a bit overpriced but I also understand that the people selling their items need to make a living. I'm just more into finding good deals than I am buying items I can get elsewhere for cheaper.
A plus to it was that there was a woman right up front selling homemade Kombucha. That was great to be able to have my Kombucha fix while on vacation. There was also some fresh fruit at a table that they put in a cup and put choc syrup on. I think it was only $30 Pesos which isn't so bad.
If you love Farmers Markets and mingling and talking to the people at the tables, listening to live music etc... Then go for it. It wouldn't be something I would plan my vacation around but if you happen to be passing by it doesn't hurt to stop in and take a quick walk around.

This market was adorable with many food options and goods to purchase. There are a lot of CAN/US hippies that clearly moved down there and were selling things at the market which was a bit unexpected for mexico, but all in all a great place.

Loved the beach restaurants, walking forever, history. Lots of old architecture, not the cleanest town but most memorable.

Do you have passion fruit/ granidillas in January?
Written 20 December 2019
Yes, usually we do but it does depend on the farmers! Lots of local fruits and vegetables but all our farmer's are small and local and products can run out quickly and change week to week!

Is the farmer's market/flea market operating in August? We are staying in Puerto Vallarta this week and plan to visit Sayulita this Friday.
Written 17 August 2017
Our season is Nov-April, as we follow the farmers! With the heat and humidity in the summer, it is hard to grow anything. Hope to see you another time
