Free bag of shredded cash!

Fun and free place to stop. It's on the way to Crown Center. Took guided tour for half. You can do on your own if desired. Over 18 must have a VDL to get in.

You can take a self guided tour or get a reservation for a tour guide led visit. Helps explain their role in handling money and financial transactions. Everyone should have a basic knowledge of how the Federal Reserve System works.

Combining this with a longer trip to the WW1 museum is the way to go. Walking distance or both have free parking. Airport style security, but since there is million in real cash behind these walls that is understandable. Varying exhibits condensed in one hall, offering something for Kindergarten and up. Thirty minutes should be sufficient, and a novel keepsake... More

Never took a picture in front of 40 million dollars or saw a bar of gold? Then visit the museum! We were even lucky to talk to a person who used to work in this bank, told us how the money is handled, transferred into the vault, we saw an auto-car selfdriving money into the vault. This was a great... More

The Federal Reserve Bank in Kansas City, Missouri does an excellent job of sparking interest in paper currency and the history of currency and money. There are a few coins on exhibit and the history behind them is told as well. On display re $1,000 and $500 dollar bills which are no longer in circulation. Bags of shredded currency are... More

Yes, you get a bag of free money when you leave, only it is shredded! Got to see what a million dollars looks like, and learned some interesting about the federal reserve. Great free attraction in Kansas City.

Very interesting place to check out. You can see and learn a lot about the federal reserve that you normally wouldn't know about. You get a bag of shredded money as a souvenir when you leave which I thought was really cool. You can also design your own money, via coloring page and also a touch screen app there ,... More

Its free! What a great way to spend a couple of hours (for us on a very rainy day......even better). Be sure to read the requirements for ID and be ready to empty your pockets. It is a federal building afterall. But very easy to get thru security if you are prepared. Not unlike going to the airport but you... More

The best things - it was free the presidential coin wall was very interesting, and you got a bag of shredded money as you left. However, when we entered - after our id scan and metal detector, we got to the room and had no idea what to do - was it guided? Self guided? We stood near a desk... More

We had photo IDs but had left our passports at the hotel and was not allowed in. We offered to show photo of passport details page but this wasn't acceptable. It does specify on the opening hours page of the website but unfortunately we didn't see this.

We are sorry for the inconvenience you experienced while visiting the Money Museum. Since the museum is housed within a regional headquarters of the U.S. central bank, and because we process millions of dollars each day, we must maintain a high level of security. We know it can be frustrating to require you to carry your passport, but due to... More
