Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We discovered the gardens twenty years ago, and still get a buzz when returning.
Many places in France claim to have ‘micro-climates’ which are far superior to areas even relatively just down the road. But it is certainly true of the Botanical Gardens at Vauville evoke a feeling of being in a far more exotic part of the world. This is even more remarkable as the garden is only a few hundred yards from the Atlantic Ocean.
Surrounding a particularly impressive château, the garden was laid down in 1948 and contains nearly a thousand examples of semi-tropical plants and trees, cunningly protected by windbreaks.
I have written about the gardens and hundreds of other attractions in this part of the region for my new book, French Impressions: Lower Normandy.

We visited with two young boys and thoroughly enjoyed it. They liked using the map and numbered sign posts to orienteer through the “jungle”. There is a nice view of the chateau and you get to pet animals.
The gardens are down the road from some lovely eateries with ocean views. A nice change from beach days. It is open from 2pm

Visited here today and totally fell in love, with the place.Strolling through the botanical gardens, makes you feel completely at peace with yourself and the world. The map, given to you at the kiosk, is detailed, giving you all the information you require at each numbered part of the garden, it's easy to follow and each corner you come to offers up it's own unique view. There is also an animal area, containing farm animals, rabbits and chickens, which you can go in with, if you wish. There is a small tea room serving amongst other things the most delicious hot chocolate and a local pastry containing apples..really nice, well worth a try. On a practical note, I would not say that it is a particularly good place to visit, if mobility is an issue, but you could always sit and while away an hour in the sunshine, with a drink, enjoying the glorious views toward the Channel Islands. On a sunny day, like today, Jersey, Guernsey and Sark can be seen. After the visit here, make time to take a look at the village..surely has to be the most picturesque, magical place I've ever seen. Add to that the sweeping bay...perfect. will most definitely return.

Perhaps it was the time of year. Certainly, it would have been interesting in the spring, when the camellias and rhododendrons would have been in flower.
In fact, the garden had obviously been well planted originally, with a variety of plants. It has, sadly, been left to its own devices with huge swathes of bamboo, phormiums, gunneras, etc...in other words plants which take over huge areas. Rather than keep these under control and add variety, the successors of the original owner are content to cut the grass and charge a large fee to visit.

Charming gardens laid out in a very informal way. No single clear route around the garden, rather numerous pathways for you to explore - coming upon the same spaces from different directions. Staff were very friendly and helpful - most of them spoke English. Has an open air tea room.

Yes, it’s a pretty garden but I’ve visited other ones that were just as, or even more, beautiful and which were free. The problem is not the garden but the price, 9.50 for that is too much. Brest, Rennes, Nantes have very beautiful free gardens with very beautiful species as well. I am willing to pay for the renovation of the castle but in this case I want to be able to visit it.

Lots of tree species but overall, disappointed with my visit. Big negative point for what is offered: the entrance price! 9 euros is really exaggerated.

Beautiful botanical garden with its themed walkways that are randomly discovered from the promenade, ferns, palms, hydrangeas etc...embellished with a discovery of ancient tools as well as gardening techniques of yesteryear. The castle of Vauville that we discover on the edge of the garden is beautiful but it is not visited.

Beautiful romantic spaces with nice bodies of water. Various and exotic vegetation. A well designed space that invites to walk. All very well maintained.
Superb views of the Renaissance castle with only four rooms to visit including the charming blue room of the XVII. We'd like to see more when we see the size of the castle. And it's free.
