A great introdution to the island archaeology - particularly the Polynesian period. Don't miss All Saints church upstairs. Not promoted heavily, but the Pitcairn community converted this convict store for use as the communities church (C of E)

We learnt so much about the convict days by going on the Museum Tour, it was over two days and you had plenty of time to see everything and once you did the tour you could go back as many times as you liked to have another look.

we decided to pay for the museum pass (giving us access to all 4 museums in Kingston + no 9 quality row) as we thought if we didn't get to them all the money was going to good use. We ended up going to all of them, and found the Commissariat Store Museum the one we enjoyed the most. The... More

We wandered in looking for material on first penal settlement. Not much around anywhere really. Lady redirected us to REO and that was helpful

The Commissariat Store Museum is a must see on NI if you are to understand the basis of early settlement - pre-European and the convict periods especially. We did a 'tag-along' tour that is part of the Museum pass. Our guide was excellent and provided a wonderful overview. We then went back an explored further. Make sure that you go... More

The museum explains how archeological recovery of items was undertaken with artifacts on display with full descriptions of their location, use and significance, along with accounts of the life of the 2nd settlement in convict times. The pass giving access to all 4 Kingston museums is the best value, especially when combined with the 9.30 tag-along tour. Knowledgable and capable... More

The Museum Pass and the Tag a Long Tour are well worth it and then I'd probably recommend going back on your own to have a better look and take more time. The Museums are really interesting and well curated.

The lady who works here is so very helpful. Very informative. We wondered around here for a very long time. There's so much on display, many folders/reference books. Definitely worth a visit. $10 entry fee.

There was a lot of interesting artifacts to see and read about, including china, glass and pottery as well as tools, old nails, an anchor and a shaft out of a grist mill. Everything was well labelled with plenty of information to read and effectively set out.
