The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has done a great job restoring this historic home. A guided tour is provided and tells the history of the home and its furnishing. We have toured various historic homes around the U.S. and we would consider this home one of the best preserved and most interesting. If you visit New Madrid, MO we would consider this a must see.

We came here for our annual visit to the Christmas Candlelight Tour. Admission to this event is free and refreshments are served. This Civil War era home has been kept up well and beautifully decorated for Christmas. You're free to see the house at your leisure or their are staff that will answer questions. Two stories and no elevator.

Also discussed problems the owners had at that time to. Historically very interesting

My friend and I had a personal tour by not one, but TWO, tour guides. A scheduling error absolutely worked in our favor. Kate, assisted by Matt, was knowledgeable, kind, and passionate about sharing the history of the Hunter-Dawson home. The home was beautiful with many original pieces and wonderful restorations. Well worth $5!
