Visited here today for the first time in a year. On walking in the place looked great, revamp was wonderful. We had booked a table for lunchtime, and we arrived 10 mins early, we were shown to our table by a new restaurant/bar manager, the place was full but most people were already eating.
The menus duly arrived and after a very short time we were asked if we were ready to order.
We both chose fish and chips, something we had enjoyed before, our drinks arrived and we waited for our food. Over an hour later we complained, as several people who arrived after us had been served by this time, we were offered free drinks and the excuse a chef hadn't shown up. Whilst this may be an issue to the kitchen, a decent restaurant would be able to cover this or at least explain when we arrived that there was a delay with service.
When our fish and chips arrived, the batter was undercooked and the chips overcooked!! We didn't want to complain again as our dogs were fed up and we had somewhere else to be.
Sadly I can't see us eating there again, we do purchase beer from time to time with them, as the service just isn't there (it wasn't great before lockdown) and an hour is an awfully long time to wait for some fish and chips.

I would like to reiterate the views expressed in the previous review about the rudeness of certain members of the staff at the Ennerdale Tap. On Saturday 26th April my husband and myself travelled 40 miles to meet up for a long awaited reunion after lockdown with our daughter and her husband. Our daughter had phoned the previous day to book a table. She was asked to prebook our orders which she did. At the allotted time we arrived and informed a member of staff about our booking and the preorder. We were told our table number After 5 mins a member of staff came and took orders for drinks and asked if we wanted to book a meal. We told her we had pre booked and told her our table number so we assumed that she had gone and told the restaurant. After another 25mins we asked a waitress about our order and she retorted that the kitchen was nothing to do with her but she would ask them. She came out of the kitchen and shouted over that the food was on it's way. Another 15 minutes elapsed and still no food had appeared. Our daughter went into the restaurant to enquire and after 5 minutes I followed. The manageress seemed quite irate and was saying that the online booking system hadn't let her know about the order and that if we had ordered directly with her there would have been no problem. She seemed to be implying that we were at fault. My daughter showed her the thumbs up rely that she had received on her mobile which was confirming the order. I did suggest that the manageress took the order so we could get our food as we were on a limited schedule which is one of the reasons we were pleased initially to pre order. We eventually got our food at 1.55. 55 minutes after we arrived. Immediately after we had eaten my husband and daughter went to pay the bill. The manageress was keeping well out of the way. They suggested that as a good will gesture for the mistakes that had been made by the restaurant the cost of the drinks (which was only one drink each) should be deducted. The waitress said she couldn't action that as it would be up to the manageress. My daughter went to find her and she was round the corner. The drinks were voided from the bill, the bill was paid and as they were leaving my husband said that we wouldn't be coming back to which one of the staff present replied 'Good'. Both my husband and daughter heard the comment. When challenged by myself on the way out the manageress denied strenuously that it was her. I did point out to her that if she had come outside earlier to explain the situation about the meal and maybe offer a complimentary drink by ways of an apology the whole situation might have been diffused but her attitude was one of indifference and aggression. When you look back at previous comments the complaints seem to be mainly about the rudeness of certain members of staff. What should have been a lovely reunion turned into a nightmare.

Apologies you had such a horrendous time at our Brewery Tap. The whole hospitality industry is currently overwhelmed, most of our customers appreciate this and the subsequent waiting time for food. The way you spoke to our staff was appalling, aggressive and unjust, nobody should be spoken to and pointed at in that manner. Please consider this in future.

I have visited the Brewery Tap and bought crates of beer from here in the past. I received a phone call from them late last year during lockdown offering me home delivery for which they kindly negotiated on the fee for this after I agreed to take 4 crates. I contacted them today to ask about placing a further order and spoke to Jodi (one of the directors) who was exceptionally unhelpful and basically said they were unwilling to negotiate on the delivery fee and that they weren't interested in my business. I was gobsmacked to be honest and am still at a loss to understand why in the current climate they can afford to turn down an order for over £100 and custom in the Tap and shop once lockdown is eased. If they had explained that there was no room for manoeuvre on the delivery fee due to the current situation I may well have just placed the order anyway. I might have expected this from someone inexperienced but coming from a director is really quite appalling. Shame on you Ennerdale Brewery, you should know better as customer service is paramount in your line of business!!

Unfortunately travelling 100+ miles to deliver 4 cases of beer for free is not cost effective for us as a business, you were informed that you could have your beer couriered for a surcharge. The reason your order was delivered FOC previously was because we were delivering nearby so kindly agreed to waiver the delivery fee.

The premise of a restaurant at a brewery is great, and indeed the ale was great!

Food-wise, it was wholesome enough with a good beefburger and Katsu chicken burger. The chips were not especially good.

The restaurant is more cafe than bistro/restaurant-like. A coach party arrived whilst we were there changing the wholesome dynamic.

The staff were pleasant throughout, and it is certainly popular, which says something!

A lovely time at the brewery tonight. Good food and excellent service, the waitress was so good with our little boy too. We hadn't been in since it has been redecorated either so it was really nice to see how lovely it is.

We stayed in Rowrah for a week were excited about having the Brewery so close (walking distance).
All the staff we were served by were really friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent on both visits. The fish and chips were really fresh and moist, the chicken and leek pie so good my boyfriend had it on both occasions and the burger was absolutely superb.

The place is spacious and beautifully decorated. You can move over to the lounge area after dinner for a night cap.

We will be regularly visiting here whenever we are in Rowrah.

A good no nonsense dining experience. More pub grub than bistro, but generous portions and tasty, wholesome food. Good value for money. Great beers on tap. If I lived in Ennerdale this would definitely be my go to establishment for eating out. Thank you.

I was doing a bit of house hunting in the area and checked out the local tap room. Delicious beer so I thought I’d eat there as well, very pleased with the food and service. Went back there the next day and although quite busy they still fitted me in didn’t have a problem with me staying there longer than usual.
